I started this thread to inform members here of issues I am seeing in my recon. of the many sources of information available on the web concerning the C-7. So far, I have able to dual source any issue I have brought to the attention of our membership. I plan to continue to do so.

Thanks for clarifying Chip. I along with others misunderstood the thread title and thought it was going to reflect specific issues our members had experienced.

I like to check our forum and other vette websites just to see what sort of trends I can find. I am seeing a couple of issues that have had more than a single occurrence. I am throwing them up here so that if anyone here has the same issue we can have it posted in our “issues & resolution” forum. I have spotted a couple of issues that are worrisome.
Base and Z-51 cars are still experiencing problems that require a rear diff replacement. I cannot tell if the cars affected were only those early low VIN cars with low lube or not? From what I’ve read the lack of proper lube level can kill a diff. pretty quickly.

Another issue that I am starting to see is that several owners of manual tranny equipped cars are reporting that their shifter moves hard into neutral as the tranny kicks out of gear. I have not seen follow ups on these reports and will see what happens and follow up here.

Lastly, there seems to be more issues with the infotainment screen going blank. A new owner of a convertible owner has reported issues with his doing this.
This opening intro. to this thread pretty much says it all...

Seat movement issue

Problem: "My '15 was dropped at my dealer today, and while the tech was doing the PDI, he moved the passenger seat forward to remove certain protective plastic. Now the seat is all the way forward, and the back is tilted as far as it can go...and it will not move at all when pressing the seat switches."

Possible Fix "If you peel back the carpet behind the seat you will see a connector ...unplug then wait 30 secs then re-attach the connector."

Or this: "A tech beat on the carpet behind the seat with his hand and Bingo...all good! The sensors are a strip of 6-8 Surface mount pressure sensors. Any extra pressure on them will kick the limit stuff into play and what you are seeing will happen. In my case, I had put some sound insulation behind the carpet, not understanding how those limit switches worked... Several have mentioned unplugging...I'll likely do that, but all is working fine now with the Sound pad removed."

Well I just found a new one.
Was detailing my car after my trip to Florida and found that the hood is cracking.
About a 1 in crack starting at the rear driver side of the hood vent.
Should be interesting to see what the dealer says about this.:(
GM is going to have a local body shop repair the crack and repaint the hood.
Going to the body shop tomorrow to talk to the guys and see if they have ever repaired a carbon fiber hood.

Good luck with that. Make sure to ask about how much panel blending (if any) will be required to do this job, so you go forward knowing what the game plan will be.

Anybody having issues with side mirrors not returning to normal after tilting in reverse? Mine don't.
Hi duckman714,

I hope the below information is of some use to you! Please PM us if you have any further questions:

The passenger and/or driver mirror returns to its original position when the vehicle is shifted out of reverse, or the ignition is off. This feature must be selected through "Vehicle Personalization" on page 5-42 of your owners manual. If you're in the reverse position and you make any changes to the mirrors, they will not go back to the driving position.

At this point it looks like any blending will be confined to the hood. Since they have to clear coat the entire hood, I took advantage of this to have them paint the stinger stripe on and clear over it. Warranty is paying for the hood fix and paint, they are charging me $289 extra to paint on the hood stripe while they are doing the repair.
GM charges $500 just for the stinger vinyl graphic.

From 3-22-14, Page 10, Post 100

I now have a list worthy of a visit to the dealer.
1) ...
2) ...
3) This is the strange one. It only occurs on shifting from first to second. With the rev matching engaged, it will hold the rpm at the exit of first and let it drop when going into second. All other gears shift normally with the rpm dropping during the shift. With the rev match disengaged, upshifts are normal for all gears.
I use Rev Match every day, and typically drive in Track Mode (except when on the highway), and I also encounter this issue when shifting from 1st to 2nd with Rev Match. Here's what happens:

- Accelerate in 1st gear.
- At 3000-3500 RPM, depress the clutch and move the shift lever to 2nd.
- Rev Match should automatically lower engine RPMs to match the RPMs required in 2nd at this vehicle speed.
- However, Rev Match does NOT lower engine RPMs. Instead, RPMs are maintained at a constant value, even if pressure is taken off the accelerator. This leads to an awkward shift, as engine load and RPM don't match vehicle speed and acceleration.

While driving in Rev Match, this 1st to 2nd shift anomaly occurs about ever 5th time. I've adapted to it (6100 miles on the car now), and I will often skip 2nd (when I sense no RPM drop occuring) and go right to 3rd, which leads to a smother and more controlled shift.

This issue only occurs when shifting up from 1st to 2nd, and roughly 20% of the time. All other shifts (up and down) with Rev Match behave as expected.

I've PM'd Dasyatis, but he hasn't taken the car to the dealer yet, so he has no insight into the root cause of the problem.

Anyone else encounter this? What was your fix, or are you living with it?

Hearing some unusual noises when driving in sport mode. My C7 is an auto. When driving at low speed when auto trans shifts into 3-4 gear the baffles shut off and goes into V4 and sounds like a pinging. Struggles to increase RPM's. Any suggestions ?

GB; Can you explain in detail what unusual noises you are hearing and from where? (as best as you can tell)

I'm just living with it; sometimes go straight in to 3rd also.

2015 C7 Z-51 with 8 Speed Automatic - Jerks

I just saw this, and will keep an eye open for this GM doc. and see if it turns into a TSB or PIP for both the Z-51 and / or the base car.

"I picked up my 2015 C-7 Z-51 car 1 week and 2 days ago. It seemed fine the first few days. Then transmission started popping the clutch in the 1-2 shift, strongly jerking the car. Friday, 10/3/2015, Dealer handed me GM Document 3966488, "Information on Transmission Adaptive Functions".
Basically, they tell you to use M and shift to 7th while keeping engine speed between 1000-1750 RPM. Repeat up to 10 times.
Of course, you still have to go through the dreaded 1-2 jerk and it doesn't seem to be improving."

Yikes! I hope this turns out to be a non-issue. I have an 2015 with an A-8 on order. Chip please let us know what you find out. Thanks!

Heads Up- Important info.!

This may well be as a result of possible oil starvation issues some of our forum owners have experienced which lead to engine failures. If I find out that this become a TSB it will be posted in the TSB / Recall thread.

"Engine Repair with Crankshaft Replacement
If the crankshaft (Fig. 21) needs to be replaced on 2014-2015 Corvette, Silverado, Sierra; 2015 Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon/XL and Escalade models equipped with the 4.3L, 5.3L or 6.2L engine (RPOs L83, L86, LT1, LV3), be sure to follow these guidelines before completing a crankshaft replacement:
• Complete all appropriate Service Information diagnostics to determine that the crankshaft requires replacement.
• If the engine has bearing and crankshaft damage, the engine should be replaced along with the oil cooler.
• On dry sump engines, the oil tank and lines should also be replaced with the engine.
• Follow the latest version of Bulletin #09-06-04-026G to verify that the ECM calibration is not an aftermarket calibration.
• If a Corvette owner prefers to keep the original numbers matching with the engine, call TAC for repair directions."
