What Part C8 Corvette Shares with C7

The C8 Corvette is all new for the year 2020 and in the past GM has shared many parts between Corvette generations but not this time.

Here is what Justine Nohe, the Corvette reporter at Torque News reports writing "The All New 2020 C8 Corvette Shares Only One Tiny Part With The C7 Corvette."

We've now had 8 different generations of Corvette throughout the years. Each new generation is typically an evolution of the previous generation and usually builds on the previous generations strengths while attempting to eliminate it's weaknesses. With this thought process in mind, it's common practice that when taking the strengths from previous generations that would typically mean borrowing parts. While this is a good idea in theory most people don't like it because it seems "cheap".

IMO, this is primarily marketing hype rather than fact. The parallel hype when the C7 was introduced, was that only 2 parts were carry overs- a filter and a bolt. As it turns out, there were many more items carried over to the C7. Similarly with the C8, the statement of only one small part carry over is clearly ignoring the fact that the engine, now dubbed LT2 is almost the same engine as in the LT1 with regard to many of its components.

The C7 only shared two parts with the C6 - the roof latch and the cabin filter I believe. I read the C8 only shares one part with the C7. Don't believe the hype.

Looks like the roof hatch latches and handles, emergency door release handles, rear deck lid latches, engine and probably a whole lot more.
