Auto Trans isn't a old style auto

Hers a interesting article from Popular mechanics

    https://www.popularmechanics.com/car...hevy-corvette/
As far as automatic or Manuel it’s neither.

    In the PM article here’s #20 :
    20. Pull the paddle and it'll shift. The paddles are wired directly to the transmission (a la McLaren Senna), for maximum responsiveness. There's no digital second-guessing. Ask for a downshift while applying full throttle and you're going to get it. Then it's up to physics and the chassis controls to sort out what happens next.
That sounds like a great transmission period.
Oh and the C8 still doesn’t have round tail lights. Lol

Well not quite... It won't let you shift into 1st at 100 mph.. NO DCT transmission will let you blow up the engine... So, it is not directly hooked up to the transmission. It shifts fast because there are two gears selected at once. it just disengages one clutch and engages the next clutch. (hence dual clutch)...

Im pretty sure that would fall under the physics and chassis control.
Your shift paddles arewired to transmission. It’s not a hard connection like your old Hurst
It’s as visceral as a transmission can get without a pedal....... jmhofwiw and ymmv

Have you ever driven a Dct? There is a shift controller computer. It will deny a shift that would overrev the engine.

In everything I have read so far about the C8 A8, there has been no mention of a torque converter. So, do the clutches engage from a standstill to launch the vehicle? If there is no slushbox, my entire attitude about the DCT is transforming.

Just watched that, it’s a good start. But, and here’s a big but, when he was talking about confusing a dct, he’s assuming you are just leaving it in auto mode. In his example, you could just pull the down shift paddle, and go...

A dct is not, in any way, related to the automatic transmission in the C7 or any other car with a torque converter automatic.

it is a manual, helical gear, transmission that happens to be automatically controlled...

He’s talking about the transmission in the Hundi
Some people have no idea what a DCT is or the basic operations of one. Your are so correct it is NO automatic.
This C8 DCT is a giant leap for most of corvette nation, exciting times.
