Crunch........snap at the Hollywood Vampires concert.

The Mrs. and I went to this great concert at the Turning Stone Casino in Verona, NY. Upon arriving, Valet came out and suggested we not have the corvette parked in the garage. They provided us a parking spot directly in front of the venue. Under security cameras and watchful eyes. Excellent. The show was amazing. Hollywood Vampires = Joe Perry, Alice Cooper and Johnny Depp. Perfect!!!
The show ends and we leave. We were parked along the curbing (very last spot) to keep away from other cars, but this spot along the curbing was an island that juts out beyond the parking. So we pull away and thought I had cleared the island. Nope, Nope and nope. The pictures tell the story. Thank goodness we wer only crawling or the damage would have been significant. Just my luck. I should always employ my tools from the nuclear industry. Situational awareness, attention to detail and all the tools we use to not get us into trouble and avoid damage control. No alcohol involved either, I do not drink. Just stupid operator error. Currently in communications with Farmer's insurance and Alan at G3Carbon. I'll come back from this. Just really annoyed with myself. Name: image.jpeg

I was debating whether to give it a like.............but after some thought, you may have took it as a dig, so no like, literally. It will be an easy fix, save the damaged part as a souvenir suitable for garage wall hanging, someone will eventually ask...."what's that?"

Oh it would have been all good Norm. Wouldn't have taken it that way. I will save that piece though and hang it up. Excellent idea. Thanks for the kind words.

We are all sorry "orangehead72!" Doubt there is not a person on this forum who at some point has not done something identical or many have done worse. Count me in the category of someone who once did something of similar cost to fix. I too was sick, and angry at myself.

However, time does heal most of these wounds, and until typing this post, had probably forgotten about that mistake for at least the last ten years.

Sorry, for this will not be comfortable for you until it is totally fixed. We hope soon!

The first week I had my car, I went over a very low curb. I was so disturbed by it, I pulled the car into the garage and did not look at it for two days. Finally, went out, pulled the car out of the garage, inspected it, and no damage.

But it taught me to be very wary of where the car is in relation to "immovable objects". I cannot imagine why anyone wants to lower our cars even more. Maybe they drive around on pool table flat surfaces.

So get it fixed, but don't forget the lesson that these are not cars that are forgiving around any kinds of barriers.

I'm just curious, can you get a single side rail or do you get to have a "wrong-side spare"?

Sorry to see that, but as mentioned, we're all there at some time. A couple months back a buddy of mine bought a new truck out of state. I offered to take him to pick it up. We drove about 8 hours from St. Louis to Oklahoma City where I promptly tag the curb pulling into a parking space at the dealership - in front of 6 or 7 salespeople. Ouch! Big scrape to the front edge of my carbn fiber splitter. *sigh* Thankfully minor, just need to paint a small accent stripe along the lip and all is good. Just frustrated at myself. A new part for you, a few minutes of time, and all should be good again!

Talked with Alan at G3Carbon and he is going to make me the one piece. Thank goodness for the good vendors we have here. This helped ease the pain.

Thank you all for the kind words. I'm still in shock/disbelief, but it will get fixed and no one was hurt. Just really annoyed with myself. This will pass as well. Must pay closer attention to my surroundings.

orangehead72, sorry about your unfortunate incident, but it's outstanding to read that G3Carbon is going to take care of you and your C7 masterpiece. Soon you will be back to wheeling around NY.
