The Carbon Flash has been sprayed and baked...almost ready for install!

After a lousy curb experience early in the day, a bright spot ensued when my paint guy called me to come look at my wheels. It's hard to tell the difference between black and carbon flash in photos, but I had him paint these in carbon flash for me. I should be able to pick them up tomorrow. Once the paint is fully cured, I'll polish and seal them, then put the TPSs back in and get the tires mounted and balanced.

Looking for opinions on painting the Corvette script Velocity Yellow. Thoughts?

Jag, you know I share your Velocity Yellow addiction. As you asked, however, would "pass" on painting the Corvette letters VY.

to others that may be doing this, consider that base+clear is not very durable on wheels...and will swirl and ding easily....they are great for shows, but will look bad on a DD in a few years....you need something tougher for wheels...like Powdercoat or DUPONT 2 part IMRON...

My paint guy stands behind his paint process, to the point that he actually talked me out of powder coating. He's a personal friend of mine and his paint shop has been in our family (on my mom's side) for decades. If he's wrong, time will tell, but he'll stand behind it. And it will be a good test!

They should look great. I'm sure your friend knows what he's doing.

Powdercoating wheels is a unique speciality. There are lots of shops claiming to be experts but many have no clue the different process and temps needed for aluminum wheels vs. your grandmothers cast iron lawn furniture.

I agree with Glen on the logo paint....,but I opted for black calipers too. I don't like the splash of color there. Tacky IMO.

The day I got my car home in Sept, I put the car up on blocks, removed the wheels, had the tires removed and had the wheels powder coated black. They look awesome and will stand up to time. I would be really concerned about using paint. Don't think it will last. I don't remember the exact price but it was around $350 for all 4 wheels.
