    hood stinger stripe

Getting ready to order a 2015 and really would like to get the hood strip. The car will be kept inside and will not be a daily driver,my question is do they have any problems with them peeling?do they fade from being in the sun?can you wax over them with no problems?
    THANKS. AL. .

It does not peel or fade, is vinyl and can be waxed. Cheaper to do it from one of the vendors after you buy the car.

I got mine through vettefx and you can make them custom any way you like. Helps make your car more unique.

What color do you think would look best on a black c7?

No thank you on the vinyl please. No. 1, reminds me too much of the stickers and decals they used back in the 60's and 70's. No. 2, there's always going to be a sharp ridge from where the vinyl sits above the paint, which comes across to me as kind of an afterthought or cheap add-on. That's counter productive to the persona of the Corvette stepping into the International Supercar arena.

For the life of me, I find it difficult to understand why, if the hood is made of carbon fiber why they don't simply cover where the stinger would go during the paint process and then clear coat over it? Personally, I'm going to order the car without and then pay the extra money to have a body shop paint the stinger carbon flash and clear coat over it. In fact, if there's any issues with orange peel when I take delivery, the entire car will end up with additional clear coat if need be, so the detailer will have something to work with, without rubbing through the clear coat. Don't mean to sound like some may take this, but after reading a number of issues that have come up in other threads, I find it necessary to anticipate things I "MIGHT" be confronted with, finding solutions and dealing with them. Rarely is there anything that is truly turnkey right from the start. The stinger is just one thing on a potentially long list of things that may have to be done.

Tom, I have contemplated just having the stinger painted on as well. I am also contemplating aftermarket vinyl so I can go back and forth between various looks. Is it cheap-looking? I won't argue that either way, but I think it might be fun to play around with it every now and then.

Only to a forum member/Vette can anyone tell it's vinyl. The rest of the world thinks it's fine. Since I don't see forum members every day, I'm content with vinyl on the stringer. It is compartmenatlized so you can't really tell by looking. I would not have vinyl on the exterior of my car anywhere else as it looks like vinyl.

My vinyl is under my Xpel. Cant you tell that it's vinyl covering the nasty shiny plastic that was on the grille? Also the products from vettefx are top quality and match the carbon flash perfectly.

If you have a red interior a red stinger stripe looks good.

I also got my stinger through vettfx and would have to say it really makes the pop. Why do you think the Z06"s all come with standard stinger stripes? Do it you'll love it!

Didn't mean to put the vinyl down or those that have chosen to go that route, so I apologize. I'm probably just looking for things while remaining in limbo for any additional information being released on the 2015 Z06, which has been pretty sparse as of late. I think I'm being driven crazy in anticipation.

Looks like it would be difficult to duplicate by a body-shop. How about use the vinyl stinger stripe and then have it clear coated in place?

I like the looks of this one with the "Supercharged" .... I take it that the writing and trim is clear so the red shows thru?
Mine would be Laguna Blue showing thru.

Bob, not sure how the clear coat would take to the vinyl as far as compatibility..... Plus, am not sure how the edge created by the vinyl would affect it as well.

I can probably get the stripe in Carbon Flash, but I want it different than in the above link.
I would like the SUPERCHARGED on the sides of the hood stinger area. Should be a little deeper on the Z06 than on the stingray.

Probably going with carbon fiber for stinger stripe and the black letters on each side saying SUPERCHARGED.
May extend CF stinger stripe to front of hood.
The car will have a CF roof, front and side splitters, and instrument panel.

Decided to just go with the "clean look" without any stripes or emblems on the hood.
