According to this schedule, even the M-7 StingRay should be paying a $1300 GGT?

None of the corvettes achieves a 'combined fuel economy of...at least 22.5 mpg". So how is it only 1 is being taxed?

What are we (am I?) missing here?

PS: Seriously, this [A8] car on an interstate with Eco, AFM and cruise can't better 22 or 23 mpg? I can accept that 29 is too much to hope for, but I really do expect something north of 25mpg.

What you are missing is the cycle for the GGT is different than the combined mileage and is more heavily weighted to the highway number. The mileage number used for the GGT is not published but it can be inferred by the amount of the tax.

The rumor mill is that GM is contesting the Gas Guzzler tax on the A8 Z06!

Still no A8's have shipped! Two weeks worth sitting in the BG lot.
Someone with an insider says it is over the GGT so no invoices or shipping.

Sure hope your correct Bob. What I don't understand is the "Cycle" for the gas guzzler tax that Mark is referring to? Also, why they don't publish those numbers. And what really irks me is the GGT is listed on the invoice like an option, therefore SALES TAX IS PAID ON THE GAS GUZZLER TAX.... Taxes on a tax! Yes, we're only talking about $97.50 in additional taxes (Sales) in my particular case, but it's the object of it....

An optimist would say that GM thinks they have a good case to get it repealed, if they are delaying all that revenue represented by those cars not being invoiced.

I would be willing to wait an extra few days, week or two to save the $1300.00 - but it's winter here in the Northeast......

My guess is that the GGT has been rescinded on the A8.

BUT, the final ok by the top bureaucrats of the EPA tech heads findings is taking some time. IF GM had not received a favorable result, there would be no waiting and the cars would have shipped.

I doubt GM started the ball rolling late in the GGT game, so probably very near the final rubber stamp of approval.

This much we know: it cost GM money to have cars sitting on a lot not invoiced, and the number of cars and costs to GM increases daily. I hope Bob is correct about the GGT.

From a purely selfish perspective, all I need to know is that I have the car I ordered sitting somewhere with my name on it. I can't drive it now anyway so the longer I can put off paying for it, the better . At least until Mid March. My guess is that they will all ship next week.

How long was the hold on the first round of Z M7's last Fall?

Call me a "Wishful Thinker" or call me a "Dreamer," but I'm on board with Bob on this one. Got my fingers, toes and eyes crossed Bob. LOL I won't mind waiting an extra week or two if Bob is correct on this and I'm out in sunny and drouth stricken California where the high here is suppose to be 68-70 today.

When I use Chevrolet's Build Your Own Z06 website, it included the GGT even on a M7. Weird...

Ya why is the GGT on the M7 after so many have been bought without, has the EPA sent a bill to those owners?
Hope BOB is correct, that would be $1,404 w/NY taxes!

On the GGT, It is GM that actually pays the tax. They pay the tax at the end of the model run when they know how many units they produced subject to the tax. This is why they don't want to invoice a car until they are certain. They have only one chance to pass the GGT on to the purchaser

They have a bug in the public build site. When you go to the supplier or employee build site it only applies the GGT on the A8 but it doesn't call it out as a line item, it's just in the price. M7's do not have a GGT.
