Just had #18-NA-355 done on my 2015 Stingray with 16,583 miles. Tech said they were familiar with the issue and confirmed the shudder around 35 mph. Took most of the day, that was ok with me. #1 Installed 19417577 :N-FLUID (08800-BOPCKT) NECESSARY TO SERVICE TRANSMISSION FLUID 3 TIMES Qty: 24, Warranty. #2 02CVMULTI: MULTI POINT INSPECTION, Warranty.

Tech told me this issue is not unique to C7 but to all A8 Trans (Camero and trucks) and that the fluid they installed is the 3rd and hopefully last version of the fluid upgraded from GM. So far the transmission feels good but I need to drive it 200-300 miles for the fluid to settle in and the trans to relearn how I drive.

Was there any info about a TSB# to reference on your paperwork?

EDIT: Stupid question (just reread the OP) ha ha

Classic Sugarland Chevy told me that GM was coming out with a definitive fix in early 2019, I already brought my C7 3 times for this same problem, it got better and better but never fixed. I think I will give them a call one of these days.

    Torque converter shudder

Well......my ‘16 A8 has been at the dealers going on a week. Whatever they are doing I hope they finally get it fixed. If GM has finally come up with a fix I hope my dealer is aware of it. BTW, this is the third time I’ve had my car in for the same issue. Maybe the third time will be the charm (not a whole lot of faith at this time).

UPDATE: I got my car back yesterday (5/07/19). According to the service order I got a flush, new fluid, new filter, and (most importantly) a new torque converter. The Corvette specialist at the dealership had not heard of the “permanent” fix for the TC problem mentioned in this thread and prevalent in A8 transmissions. Keeping my fingers crossed my issue has been resolved.

Mine is at the dealer for day two. I had the old flush done around 6k miles, and it seemed to temporarily fix the issue of shuddering and strange shifts. Now I'm at 15k and it's back. Actually it has been back for thousands of miles, but I've finally gotten the courage to bring it back again now that a newer TSB is out. Honestly, my transmission is "OK" most of the time, but I experience the shudder during downshifting and upshifting from 3-1, 1-3 at least a couple of times every day and it's driving me crazy and ruining my enjoyment of the car.

Latest update is they "can't reproduce the problem" with the transmission mechanic, although I got it to do it three times (one of them reasonably bad) on a drive w/ the service manager. GM is requiring more proof or evidence before authorizing a flush. I don't feel it's severe enough to require a torque converter replacement, but if a flush could potentially bring it back to 100% while preventing further damage to my torque converter or transmission, I think they should authorize the repair!

I love my car and can't imagine replacing it with anything else, but if this issue can't be fixed and I'm forced to continue driving it in its current state, I might write-off GM, the C7, and the C8 and begin the search for a different car.

    UPDATE:
Three days at the dealer and they were unable to reproduce the problem (although as mentioned earlier, I could reproduce it). GM agreed to perform the newest TSB flush along with re-teaching, and I was told that it may not fix my issue and I might not see results for 400 miles. I drove home from the dealer and noticed one super-super slight vibration. Now two days of driving later, and the car is rock solid. No vibration outside of the one I previously mentioned, and the car shifts quicker and doesn't over rev, slam into gear, or hesitate. I've got my fingers crossed that this will be the definitive final fix and I won't have to take it back again. I'm REALLY excited about this, because the car is driving like it should again and I'm starting to unlearn my old ways of driving where I modified my driving due to me anticipating strange shifts and shudder. I'm super happy right now...I just hope the feeling lasts!

Dropped my 16 Z06 A8 (37.651) miles off today for transmission and possibly rear end problems. Going into 5th gear at 31 MPH and hanging up then shuddering and when slowing, it clunks goes into lower gear once I dropped to 10MPH. When driving around 65-70MPH it constantly shudders and vibrates, feels like one of the gears in the rear end is missing a tooth. This was going on since last year but only sporadically. This week, it became constant. Also, my blower motor is going bad and of course that is out of warranty. The blower goes off when I hit a bump in the road and then comes back on after a couple of minutes. Not good for yesterday when temps hit 91.
