    40.7 mpg

According to my C7 dashboard, I used my 1,000th gallon of gas. At 40,692 miles traveled, that works out to 40.7 miles per gallon! That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

    Hmmmmm.

Have you ever changed your battery? I noticed when I changed mine my "Best 50" reset. I wonder if the gallons used got reset, too. I'll have to look at mine tomorrow.

Well, I don't think it's related to a battery change. My 2015 says I've used 1541 gallons of fuel in 31243 miles. A bit over 20 mpg, which sounds about right given my driving mix.

Maybe it's limited to 4 digits, and you've really used 11000 gallons!

    Johnu,

If this is really the case, I think you should go out and "burn off the carbon" to bring that MPG figure down.

And I did notice you did not show the actual MPG screen. :-)

    Keep on drivin'

    Egg on my face.
I now realize it can be and no doubt was, turned back at some point. Since I'm the original owner..... I, zeroed it out probably around 20,000 miles and the correct mpg is around 20ish.

Reminds me of the bitter sweet movie "Pete and Tillie" (1972). Pete (Walter Matthau) has an obnoxious neighbor (Henry Jones) who likes to talk about the great MPG he gets with his VW. Pete and his son decide to sneak into their neighbor's garage and periodically add gas to the VW. Now the neighbor is ecstatic and of course brags to Pete about the fantastic MPG: "44 last week and 47 this week!"

Later, Pete and his son begin siphoning gas out of the VW. There is a scene with Pete and his son are driving by a service station. The neighbor is there, loudly complaining to a mechanic about the lousy gas mileage and the mechanic is telling him he can't find anything wrong with the car.

When i was in high school a long time ago, we actually did that to a friend's father who had just bought a new Jeep. I don't know if he ever learned the truth of why his fuel economy was going up and down.

Nice joke - but stay away from my house! The best I’ve done in my 2015 C7 M7 is 45 mpg. Read it and weep. Its still on my dash. I practice a lot in the Prius.....
