I was pretty much decided on 2LT. Today I sat in a 1LT car and played with the audio system for awhile. After a bit of tweaking of the treble/mid/bass controls I got it to a level that sounded pretty good to me. Since this was one of my salient points in choosing 2LT over 1LT, I'm wondering if anyone can offer insight into just how much of an improvement the 2LT 10 speaker system is. I understand all of the other upgrades offered by 2LT, I'm specifically hoping to hear about the Bose audio system upgrade in this post.

Thank you.

While I cannot vouch for the 1LT stereo, I can speak empirically about the 2 LT stereo. In short, you won't be blown away. It isn't bad, but it's definitely tuned more for the frequencies that you feel vice hear. At times, with more musically rich pieces I have notice a texture that I can only describe as flat. I listen to pretty much everything, including a great deal of JS Bach. Many of his works have a huge, rich sound, specifically some of his organ works. The 2LT Bose doesn't do as good of a job of conveying that titanic wall of sound as the Bose in my wires 370 Z does. The 2LT will often make music sound a bit thin and not very dimensional. But if you crank some Dubstep, it will shake the mirrors and move the lapels of you shirt collar. A moderator on this site by the name of Elegant has a pretty thorough post about the tonal qualities in the 2LT.

Keep in mind though that I'm an armchair audiophile, and am a little over critical.

I don't regret going with the 2LT option. It's well worth getting the extra speaker. Sounds amazing in my IMO.

I had a 2Lt Z51 & thought the upgraded 10 speaker system did a good job with most music. Sometimes the bass was overdone and had a difficult time keeping up with the music. I was not sure if it was the recording or the sub. The factory system has 9 or 10 speakers. The doors have a 8 inch driver with Mid driver. I went with a 1LZ with my Z06 which means I will have the base audio system. If not happy I will see if its possible to add the sub and factory amp & software. I have done many installs in my days.

One thought if you are asking the ? Audio must be very important to you so getting the better of the two systems would be the best option. I would go to a dealer and test them back to back. I have yet to find a base 1LT in my area.

I find the 1LT 9-speaker system to be more than adequate, although I do need to dial back the bass two or three notches to avoid what I call a "muddy" quality to the sound.
Personally, I would not spend the extra $ for the 2LT just to get the 10-speaker system.

Salient but I'm sure you won't base your 2LT/1LT decision on the audio. I say the 2LT Bose sounds great. Haven't compared, but I think adding a speaker and some wattage over the 1LT should improve the audio.

The ONLY thing I didn't need that the 2LT offered was the cargo shield. Its in the shed but the cargo net is in use in the car. Heads up display, enhanced security, heated/cooled seats, rear view mirror dimming and on... are the reasons you should get 2LT.

interestingly the dealer I went to yesterday had 4 C7's sitting on the showroom floor, 1 arctic white, the other 3 black. ALL 4 were 1LT! So I couldn't compare. I will certainly compare them at my first opportunity.

Well salient as in one of the important points, in retrospect perhaps salient is too strong of a term. In another thread comparing 1LT and 2LT I posted my thoughts at the time as to why I was going with 2LT. Here's that list again: (in decreasing order of importance to the decision)

1. Interior colors that I want are not available in 1LT
2. Ventilated seats (I live in Las Vegas!)
3. HUD
4. Universal home remote
5. Memory seats
6. 10 speaker audio upgrade
7. Power bolster and lumbar adjustment
