So based on that math around 49 Z06's were built today with mine being #66 means mine should be built around 9am tomorrow and being a Vet on Veterans day how cool!. :D

One thought as to why they are not installing the spoilers is the shipping cover. These spoilers are pretty tall and the cover would not fit as well and maybe flap in the wind a little which could cause some paint rubbing.
Think you have nailed the reason "Redc7!"

There are no window stickers on the Z06's coming off the line today, just an internal GM document. (Hence, no MPG info re gas guzzler or not info.)

There is sitting on the dash, visible through the windshield to line workers, a sign, in color, about 6" x 12" wide, saying "Z06!" A good heads up to BGAP staff that they are assembling a new model, that will have new/different parts than the StingRay at certain work stations.

Forget the specifics, but they actually had to rethink the covers for the Stingray Convertibles due to wind flapping/paint scratching from lack of the fastback coupe roof. Rick Conti told me he spoke with Steve Grilli about it directly right after he received his first convertible, and they ended up (I think...getting old & forgetful) putting foam or something on the rear deckled under the cover to protect....

John,
I know all the guys, specially me would like to sincerely thank you for all the great help and information gathering you do.
That being said my Silver Bullet gets built 11/21-11/24, wouldn't be sayin that without the good doctor. Dr.Z06.
A heads up for you guys waiting...I got my build date/tour dates from Shane at NCM. A forum friend suggested I check w/Chevy order tracking to c if I had a vin. Well I did and they still have me at 3300 - no TPW? So lesson learned Buyers Tour guys get the info first.

Really looking forward to meeting some Corvette guys in BG

That's great Rick. Congrats on the early build. Wish I could do the Buyers Tour, but just didn't have the time. I know you'll have an awesome time. If you run into DrZ06, be sure to say hi and thank him again for me. Sure wish I could be there. Signing off from Brazil.

More 11/10 Z06 BGAP info:

1) Spoiler:

Have to possibly backtrack from my earlier statements that the Stage 1 spoiler is exactly the same as the Z-51's except wider.

Reason: None of the spoilers vertical plates are now being attached during the assembly process. They were, but recently are no longer... Perhaps this was for easier assembly of other parts, or perhaps to prevent scratches or abrasions during either assembly or transport.

Thus, today during all three tours, every spoiler, when viewed from the back has a series of about nine "receiving bolt" holes for the vertical spoiler plates.

Hence, when I was viewing them from a frontal point of view, they do look exactly like Z-51 spoilers, but as no vertical plates were present, nor as of yet the right person to ask, just do not know definitive info about the Stage 1's spoiler yet.

Another possibility, though very unlikely, is that they were only running Z06's today with either the CFZ or CFZ option???

Will try and learn more as soon as possible...

2) Wheels:

A) Saw the first customer Z's with Spectra Gray wheels. There was only one set, on a white Z07, and that combination looked stunning.

B) Most of the Z06's being run today had black wheels, and do they every look fantastic clean/shiny/new!

C) Saw about 10% of the Z's with chrome wheels. With the 20-spoke wheel's many edges and angles, they were unbelievably reflective. Beautiful bling for those who want chrome.

D) Saw five sets of silver wheels, e.g. two on black cars, two on silver cars, and one set on a DSOM II. The silver wheels looked really nice on all of these cars.

3) Front fender grills!!!!!!!!!! There are not enough exclamation points to express how fantastic these grills look. They beautifully define/set out the Z06's side view.

4) Exhaust sound: An assembly worker gunned it while we were standing next to the car. All I can say is that the Z06's may well be the first Corvette that I have owned that I will not install an aftermarket exhaust on (wanting louder sound). Factory exhaust sounds incredibly, and delightfully loud.
I ordered the gray wheels on a white Z07, the dealer tried to push me into the black but at the last min. I changed to the gray. You possibly seen my car because I am VIN 35!!! So exciting. I'm so pumped!! Can't wait to get my hands on it and mod it to my personality..

John - hoping you see this before your buyer's tour....I had a crazy thought regarding the spoilers...

What if EVERY Z06 had the same spoiler piece mounted to the car, with the differences being the wickerbills/vertical plates which would bolt to it??This would allow GM to manufacture using one base piece & a single assembly process, and then ship differing pieces to the dealer for attachment at PDI depending on the aero level ordered? This would mean going from a stage one spoiler to a stage 2 or stage 3 would be as simple as removing the existing wicker bills, and attaching the different ones using the same holes on the "base" of the spoiler. A *BIG* help to this of us constrained into stage 1 aero but wanted stage 2....

I will post screen captures from the recent "aero" video in support of this.....

The white car is a stage 2, the gray is a stage 1 aero car. Note the similarities in the "base" piece of the spoiler and the seemingly identical mounting points between the different vertical plates/wickerbills....
Hey Alan,
Best Stage 1 versus Stage 2 yet. Great pictures and I love the possibilities of making that simple change.

Good job Man!

You know, ALF01, you may be onto something! This would allow GM to save a lot of money reusing the same base spoiler piece. It would be really great, both for GM and many of their customers, if what you wrote turns out to be true!

Think ALF01 you are exactly right. Going to the Plant this morning to again try and confirm. And as per my other post, that Harlan said we can buy the clear "wickerbill center bridge" and large spoiler end plates at the Chevy parts counter (not restricted purchase), think we have interchangeability as far as aero packages is concerned. Again, trying to confirm this has been a ----- (and so far unsuccessful).

Another benefit of this "standard base piece" approach is for those who have ordered dual racing stripes on their car.....since the stripes go over the spoiler - with this set up, you could keep the base piece with the stripes on it rather than being faced with having to "re-stripe" a new spoiler.....

11/11, Veterans Day 06 Update:

Talk to a Plant official this morning, and verified that all Z06 mounting spoilers are similar to the Z-51, every spoiler for all three stages is identical with its 10 "bolt receiving holes", and thus allowing for the different heights for the spoiler's vertical plane wickerbills. Thus as per "ALF01's" posts number 28 & 29, the stage 1 has vertical wickerbills (as in his picture); the stage two is also identical to his (with each wickerbill being 30 mm taller than the stage 1 spoiler wickerbills), and the stage 3/Z07 having the identical wickerbills as the stage 2, though as we know, also having the clear wickerbill center bridge.

Sorry, that many getting a stage 1 Z06 will be disappointed in this news.

I was thinking those who wanted no vertical wickerbills (wanted it flat across, side to side like the Z-51), would be disappointed.

Just finished the last tour of the day, and once again no Spectra Gray wheels. That makes six tours, and only one Z06 with Spectra Gray wheels -- inspite of my seeing about 80 Z06's in total. This is certainly different from what I have heard from two of the top five dealers who have lots of Spectra Gray orders, mine is Spectra Gray, as are two of my friend's. Maybe just coincidence, with tomorrow or the rest of the week running a fair amount of them?

John, yours is suppose to be going down the line tomorrow hopefully, so you'll have an opportunity to see what they look like on your own car. Please PM me with your thoughts and impression once you see them. Thanks. Oh BTW, after taking all these tours you'll be so familiar with them you'll be able to do them by yourself next year if they ask you again.
