Hey guys needs your help I have a 2017 corvette with out Warranty 8000 miles , Took it to Dealer with an emissions lite They installed senser , Got to drive home grinning in gears then a mile up the road clutch fell to floor on its own ,I pulled it up seem ok
Then I changed the slave cylinder fluid with the ranger method .
A week later it happened again ,pulled it up and rotated more fluid road test ok
Called the dealer they said on these low milage C7s they have had this happen sooner or later you will have to have it towed in to us for repair , Usually they have to change the slave cylinder and master cylinder drop drive shaft and cat and exhaust at a labor cost of 4,700 dollars you see a lot of corvettes is this true @RichardZ06 I don't trust the corvette now

Looks like you have a Z06.

I also have a 2016 Z06. I have had some clutch issues. On some occasion is will slip. on others it will go to the floor and like you said you can pull it up and it will work again for a while.

My opinion is that the slave cylinder can get a bit of air in it and when the unit gets warm the air expands and can cause issues. From a mechanical design stand point it should not do this but mine has done it a few times. The ranger method will not clear the air out of the system. I had a line installed that comes from the slave back up to the engine compartment. This way the system can be bled the proper way very easy. The air still gets into the slave cylinder but now I can blead it and it works for much longer before it gets soft or slips.
I have had the entire unit removed and inspected but it still will do this once or so a year. Now my system is not stock but has a triple plate clutch, but is still uses the stock slave and master cylinders. I put down 900 RWHP and on E85 the exhaust gets very hot. And I can sense when the clutch is on the edge. The cats are very close to the clutch and under the right conditions can drive a great deal of heat into the clutch fluid.

Before you go to the cost of a teardown, have the clutch bled the right way. This can be done but is not very easy. I went 5 yrs and 50k miles before I had any issues with it. One issue that can set it off is being a bit low on clutch fluid. It is also unlikely you should need to replace the slave cylinder.

Hope this helps.

This is the best answer I have received explaining cause and effect .
The clutch was low the first time I checked it .
In a matter of two weeks it happened again ,I have been easy on car not pushing it hard
I guy on other corvette forum Tracks his car and had to replace master cylinder and install lines to slave ,
What gets me is dealer say sooner or later i will have to tow it in to fix for 4,700 dollars labor They are kina right from what you explained THANK YOU GOOD INFO
