Just got my cy gray lt2 auto great car having auto tran when is car running on 4 cy
First, congrats. Second, it's a 2LT, not an LT2 ;)

With that aside, with the Auto, when in Auto mode (not using paddle shifters) and in Weather, Eco or Touring mode whenever you are at a steady state with a light load the motor will probably go into V4 mode. It's a pretty sophisticated algorithm so it's not a simple answer. Keep it in Sport and / or use the manual trans mode and it should always be in V8 mode.

Some have mentioned it may even go into V4 mode in Sport but I'm not sure that's true.

To avoid a British comedy scene, always refer to your trim level as 2LT because..." It's an LT2. Really? Yes. I thought it was an LT1. It is. Well you just said it was an LT2! No, I mean...it is, but..."

Anyway, Mark, I'm almost 101% positive it still goes into V4 mode even in Sport. At least, that's what mine was doing before I traded it for the M7.

If you're sitting at a red light in tour I assume it's running 4 cylinders?
No, it stays in V8 mode at a stop, at least my Silverado does. If it went into V4 mode it would be very rough and have a hard time maintaining a low idle speed and since it's using very little fuel the savings woudn't be worth it.

I don't think it drops into V4 at the light.

There you go. So it sounds like unless you are in Track mode or shifting manually it can go into V4 mode whenever it determines the conditions are right. Or, you can get a manual and only worry about it in Economy mode ;)

I assume that was a question. You can set your DIC display to show when it is in 4cy and when it is in 8cy. I have mine set that way and am amazed how often it shifts between the two. Its practically seamless. I operate my automatic in tour mode with npp set open (off).

Yup. It goes to 8 as you slow down to stop and while you are stopped. That also allows for smooth starts as the 8 is needed when the light turns green.

Don't confuse ARM with AFM.....CYL shutdown (AFM) occurs on 7 spd ONLY IN ECO MODE

On auto trans it occurs in EVERY MODE, except if you use paddles, which then moves you to MANUAL mode no matter what drive mode you have selected....

Glen,

He asked specifically about rev matching with the auto
Does the auto trans blip when down shifting in manual mode?
I imagine they don't call it out for the Automatics because it's a pretty basic function an flappy paddle autos, not so much on manuals.
