Does anyone know if the C-7 hood can be opened another way if the cable breaks on the opening lever? There used to be a tool available that would do this on a C-4.

I wasn't aware the hood cable breaking was an issue. I've owned over 100 cars and have never had a hood latch cable break.

Sounds like a solution in search of a problem to me.

If I was to ever have a problem with it, I would let the techs at my dealership figure it out.

Actually, you just need to remove the engine/cradle then you can pop the hood from underneath. Just isn't a good option if you're in a hurry.

It is a valid question, maybe a little premature. I've had my 1980 for 21 years and I have needed the alternative method of opening the hood twice. Both times I was glad that GM had provided a means of opening the hood, that is easy to access and doesn't damage the car in anyway, in the design of the car.
