Yesterday, it was AutoGuide. Today, the Detroit Free Press named the 2014 Corvette StingRay the Car Of The Year!

Detroit Free Press said:
The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette is Mark Phelan's pick for the Detroit Free Press Car of the Year. The car was photographed in downtown Detroit in the shadow of General Motor's headquarters, the Renaissance Center.

General Motors’ biggest brand, whose engineering and design strength powered the automaker to decades of dominance, flexed new muscles this year.

Chevrolet gained momentum with every new vehicle it introduced, winning awards and accolades right and left.

Style and value made Chevrolet one of America’s great brands and those virtues are on full display in the 2014 Corvette Stingray and Silverado pickup, the Detroit Free Press Car and Truck of the Year.

■ Truck of the Year: 2014 Chevrolet Silverado workhorse also offers creature comforts

This comes about one week after the U.S. Treasury sold its last GM share and CEO Dan Akerson announced that Mary Barra will succeed him next month, becoming the industry’s first woman CEO.

There were many deserving vehicles in both categories.

Runners-up in the Car of the Year competition were the Cadillac CTS and the Mazda6.

Truck of the Year runners-up were the new Jeep Cherokee and the Subaru Forester.
With thanks to, and the entire article here:
