It’s no secret that there are a TON of smartphone mounts on the market right now, and given the sheer volume of dirt cheap offerings available across the web, it’s not always easy to separate quality from the junk that isn’t worthy of holding your long-dead 1st gen Motorola Razr. With that in mind, we recently got our hands on some gear from Kenu—the California-born smartphone mount company—for a closer look at how they’re trying to distinguish themselves from a huge pool of competition.

Rather than looking at their basic Airframe model, which realistically looks like just about any other vent-type smartphone mount, we went with the Airframe Pro. I'm sure it's a fine product, but I don't want anything blocking the airflow when I have the AC on.

I bought this product and mounted it on the lighter panel opened up. That places it in perfect position to see the phone.

I purchased the Kenu small phone mount several years ago. Its small size and weight are perfect to throw in a carry on for air travel and then use in a rental car to mount your phone for navigation. The clip that mounts to the car vent has 2 cutout sizes. I have never had a problem mounting the clip to a vent. However, your phone will get warm or cold depending on the AC setting. I try to set the mount in a position to have my phone block as small amount of vent area as possible.
