We were invited to the Monterey Grand Prix by Bondurant Racing School because we've prepaid for our classes there this Fall and the sales guy Cameron Corbin is super nice and we've stayed in touch.

Once we got there though, we got to do a hot lap (which he said MIGHT be possible) AND got to go into the live pits during the GT Le Mans actual race and watch both C7-Rs pit! It was SOO awesome!

My husband, cousin, and I did a hot lap in a Mazda 6 :p, but then I got to hop out and do a second one in the C7. SOOO much better! Hot laps were ending though, so the guys didn't get to do the Vette. ;)

I will try to post a few pics, but will maybe add some more when we're home tomorrow. I was taking burst photos 10 per second of the race, but it is too much to dig thru on the camera while we're still away from home.

Attaching here my Bondurant hot lap car, pics from the pits, pic of my hubby and I IN the pit, and then some of the race cars. Yeah Team Corvette for winning!

Cheers!

It looks like you and Charles had a great day out there! We are really happy that you guys got the red carpet treatment out there and a lot jealous about getting a hot lap at Laguna Seca in a Bondurants C7! I can't think of a better way to take a lap there! You guys must be so jazzed as those moments are pretty special.

Maureen really liked your post regarding the handbags! She will have to send you a comment.

I wasn't sure how many pics the Forum would let me post at once, so I broke it up.

Oh Fun! We watched the DVR'd race so we could see stuff that happened when we weren't watching. We were on TV!

Here is a pic of my TV :D with me in a red t-shirt taking a pic, and then the pic I was taking!

I was doing the stills right after Charles shot the video above. What a good team we are!

I'm assuming those pictures were all taken race day, correct?

It's really sad to see so few spectators. It seems that aside from the major events Americans have simply lost the fire when it comes to supporting sports car racing.

Yes, all pics taken race day.... during the SECOND major race, because we mostly cared about the Corvettes.

Although you're sure right compared to a crowd at a NASCAR race, the crowd at my last IndyCar race wasn't all that fabulous either. And I honestly don't know how it looked earlier in the day. They could have had a decent crowd for the noon race that cleared out when that was done. Racing started at like 8am, and we were doing our turn in the pits 330p to 4p. Also, there was a decent number of folks up on the 'hills' around the track. Frankly, if I were not invited to do all the extracurricular activities, I would have had a folding chair out on the grassy hill watching over more of the really spread out road course and I wouldn't have been in the stands either! The Corkscrew would have been WAY more fun to watch.

We did go to the stands to watch the last half hour and the finish, but we couldn't honestly see much there but some of the front stretch and the finish line.

Cheers,
