Can someone give me the correct specification for a non-Z51 2015 Stingray OEM battery. Can't find anything in the owners manual and don't want to pull up the carpet.
Thanks
Alan

First I believe all Stringarys base, Z51 & Z06 use the same battery. I have had a low voltage since I got my September 2013 built 2014 C7 so spent time looking for a replacement, particularly an Absorbed Glass Matt (AGM,) it's not as simple as battery size! The battery has a large power board attached to the positive terminal. It must have recessed terminals to have it fit. There is also a recess in the center to accept the hold-down. Thought I found one at Sears, which said it fit, then that was no longer available. In fact see the pics below, It does not have a recess in the center for a holddown, probably the reason that model is no longer listed as fitting a Stingray?

Even called Odyssey who make an expensive AGM (note an Optima won't fit because of terminal location) but the number they list, although it has recessed terminals did not appear from a picture to have a sufficient recess in the center for the hold-down. Call JEGS who sells Odyssey and where I have bought many products for my street rod. I trust their technicians to give good info. After a 5 minute search he came back on the line and said their notes indicate a mod was required but no details.

I have found and AGM that "looks" like it will fit at AutoZone and their information says it does. Another poster indicated he believes he found the same one at Advanced Auto. Since batteries are made by folks like Johnson Controls for all these suppliers, including Sears they could be the same with different labels. If your looking for a better battery than the OEM need to be sure it fits! Otherwise get the exact replacement. Delco says it's their 48PS.

Another thought, you should pull out the carpet yourself to understand that the inside unbound edge under the plastic wheel well cover could rip if not done very carefully! In fact I suggest unclipping the rear bottom clip on the wheel well cover. It's up about 3 inches from the carpet. You do not need to remove the cover just pull it out and then pull out the carpet. There have been reports of dealers ripping the carpet! Surely if the first time it's done is by an AAA fellow responding to a dead battery it's even more likely! Once the wheel well cover bottom is pulled out it is fairly easy to pull out the remainder of the carpet to access the battery. Then the task is removing the battery from the tight hole it's in, no room to get you hands on it. I have bought a battery strap that attaches to the posts -I'm ready when I decide to replace mine! So far it has operated fine for 3 years and I do not use a charger. Been on vacation for 2 to 2 1/2 weeks 3 times and it started right up.

Sorry for the long answer but hopefully helps someone as C7's are now starting to be 3 years old! The yellow arrow in the pic is the plastic cover over the large power board that attaches to the positive terminal. Also note the recess in the battery center for the holddown.

That's what I used-an AGM series 48-hard to figure out the first time but really not too tough.

Just the info I have been waiting for! Thanks for posting and many thanks for the install pdf. Just checked and pricing for this DieHard is much better than comparable AGM batteries from AutoZone or Advance Auto. Their batteries are close to $200 with the same 36 month warranty.

1st half of 2016, I had Walmart install an EverStart Plus group size H6 in my 2014 Stingray to prepare the car for the voyage to the Philippines. After almost 4 months in a container, the car started without hesitation. Its now July 2024 and the battery is still OK! First time I had a battery this long. Right now, Walmart has it listed for $109.76 This is the best battery I have ever used.

Here is what I suggest for batteries, all batteries but even more true in the Corvette. You only need the amount of power the OEM recommends. You do not need more CCA, CA, or RC. Since the physical size of the battery does not change, when you increase these you add metal and reduce electrolyte. This causes higher internal battery temps which cause premature failure. Since almost none of us drive our Corvettes when temps are anywhere near Zero (CCA) or even 32 (CA) we will never lack for power. Add to this that most of use put a charger on the battery when it is sitting. That is why cheaper batteries tend to last longer than more expensive batteries then have fewer plates so they cost less to produce. Fewer plates allows for better cooling. Save the money, save the weight and but what your car need and nothing more.
