I guess I missed this somehow, but At the end of the All Star Game last week, Mariano Rivera was awarded the MLB All Star MVP award, and just for good measure, he was also awarded a 2014 Corvette Stingray as well!

Chevorlet has been an avid sponsor of the MLB and has contributed in many ways around the nation to our nation's pastime of baseball by making over baseball diamonds, and by providing funds to dealerships to sponsor Little League teams. And now they are making the Stingray part of their contribution to the MLB. As if the $15 million contract wasn't enough for Mo, he now gets to roll around NY in a brand new toy! Mo was very gracious in receiving his award and thanked everyone involved as well as bringing his family out onto the field with him, so for that I commend him. A stand up guy.

There are a few things that I find funny about this whole thing:

1. Chevrolet is going to make over a baseball field in his honor in the city of his choice, IN AMERICA. I understand that they are trying to keep their contributions in the US, but is it necessary to include that statement in the award ceremony? Also, this guy is from Panama City... Not the one that is full of drunk college co-eds, the real one that is full of measles-mumps-rubella (MMR), diphtheria-pertussis-tetanus, varicella (chickenpox). You know the latin countries that most of the MLB talent comes from.

2. This gift could be not a gift at all like the tax implications that Joe Flacco faced when Chevy gave him a Stingray for his Super Bowl MVP reward.

Anyway, I am glad to see that Chevy does in fact run deep and has the new Stingray out and in the public!
