I'm looking for some information regarding the Bluetooth setup of existing owners. On the settings menu under Bluetooth there is supposed to be a setting called Text alerts. It is on page 70-71. It's the last one on the bottom of the screen. Does anybody have that? If so could you take a picture and post it. Also what trim package did you order.

Thanks

Keith

If it's like the BT setup on the Chrysler system that option only comes up when the device you paired has the feature enabled in the BT stack. If you don't have a device paired or the paired device is an iPhone you don't get the option.

With the iPhone you read text messages using the Siri integration.

Gotta hand it to you guys... I'm lucky if I can chew gum and drive at the same time.

The GM system uses Siri eyes free, here's the description From the Apple site:

Apple is working with car manufacturers to integrate Siri into select voice control systems. Through the voice command button on your steering wheel, you’ll be able to ask Siri questions without taking your eyes off the road. To minimize distractions even more, your iOS device’s screen won’t light up. With the Eyes Free feature, ask Siri to call people, select and play music, hear and compose text messages, use Maps and get directions, read your notifications, find calendar information, add reminders, and more. It’s just another way Siri helps you get things done, even when you’re behind the wheel.
Basically you ask Siri to read you your messages. Android users don't fret, watch the 2nd video, the system uses pass through so if you have an android with voice recognition it should work too.

Here are a couple videos, ignore the Spark and Sonic, they were just the first to get this system.

There's always problems with Apple. For whatever reason they always monkey around with the BT stack with every iOS release. $20 says some things that worked in iOS6 don't in iOS7. Heck, we're already up to iOS7.0.2 and it's only been out a week. It's called a moving target and for those Android fans out there, your operating system is even more fragmented than Apple's so don't pull an attitude ;)

Are we sure the new C7 has siri eye's free as of now? - I don't think it does.....
Hmm, I swear I saw it was but backtracking I can't find the link. It's quite possible I misread that it did and since I can't find the reference I can't say for sure. At this point unless your infotainment manual specifically calls out the Siri Eyes Free integration then it's probably not there, SORRY.

For those with their cars try this, pair your iPhone to the radio and hold down the voice prompt button to see if pass through is enabled. If it is then you should hear the Siri beep. If you don't then It doesn't.

thanks for all the info. Sofar heres what Ive found out.

Setting is not present even on a Galaxy when paired see pic.

The video someone posted using siri is the only way this feature works.

So therefore it is not an apple issue it could likely be a GM issue with all vehicles.

If anybody has the text alert vehicle please post a pic. Ive spoken to GM infotainment specialist and Im waiting for a response
