I am playing with the idea of changing my 2016 Stingray Arctic White with a more recent GS once the C8 will be available for purchase. Has anyone else had this thought?
I honestly like the wide body of the GS and I love the collector edition grey with "Smurfs" blue interior.
Please talk me out of this :)

I am just looking forward to 12/2019 when my 2014, 10k miles, with many mods and the car will be paid off if not sooner. No amount of rebates, new models, new design etc would give me any thought of consideration to buy another car at this time. Kids have gone to college on my dime and graduated so they have been set up for reasonable success. I will take the car payments and apply to my mortgage payments to accelerate payoff of my home to be paid off between years 2025 - 2027 which would be 10 yrs early. Also, I am accelerating payments to pay of my 2018 vehicle early too and once the house is paid off I will be totally debt free.

So if you are young enough have your fun with the boy toys as long as you can before you mature in your thought about life, family and fiscal responsibility! Or, if money and paying new sales taxes and depreciating asset is not big deal and not an issue, do whatever your wallet allows you to. I'm just pretty disciple in making financial decisions and what makes the best sense for what I value most in priorities in my life. I have 2 years to 60 and setting the wife and I up for 60+ beyond has always been the goal.

By the way, I like the wide body but not enough to by a new car and not enough to spend 10k to do the wide body conversion but that's just me and my narrow body is sooo custom in looks, I wouldn't trade someone for a stock looking GS which I would need to mod to make it custom to me as I just never have liked looking like everyone else and like to be different but that's just me.

My Carbon Fiber Edition - All Carbon Flash replaced with APR Carbon Fiber!

Albert, not sure where you are with payments if any on your Stingray. What Kgrant was describing is where I am now. House paid off. C7 fully owned in addition to a C4, TL and 300. Kids through college. I've also done enough changes to my Z51, that for me to go GS, it would only be for the wide body. There will be some great deals once the C8 is out for all of the C7 models, but even with my situation as it is, I'm happy with the deal I made when I bought my Stingray in 16 so I am personally not going to look to change C7 models.

If the C8 is a big hit with major improvements, no mechanical or performance issues and just something so nice that I would move in that direction, I may then start looking for a deal on a C8, but I'm happy with what I currently have and plan on keeping her.

Albert, I'm sort of having the same idea..... but I already have the GS, so I want to move to the Z06! Probably really looking to do it 2 years from now when my GS is 4yrs old and the C8 is 2 and folks are dumping Z06 garage queens for that new kid on the block.

A few things come to mind.
1.- The last of a series has always been the most rock solid and reliable because of years refining through warrantee complaints
2.- Buyers market because anticipation of C8 has left a glut of 2019's on dealers lots.
3.- Wait too long and your desired model, color and options will be limited
4.- C8 development has been plagued with problems and delays. Likely first few model years will be problematic

This promoted me to trade in my 2015 Z51 on a 19 Grand Sport Convertible 2LT w/ PDR & Nav. Sebring Orange / Kakahari, chrome wheels. Bomnin Chevy in Miami had lowest price in Florida. AutoNation Chevy Greenacres matched their price at $12,500 off MSRP. Never saw an opportunity like that before!

I think I will look for another Arctic White C7 GS or the Collector Edition. Maybe some of those will pop up here int he forum when the time is right. My 16 2LT Stingray has tons of mods and 13k on the odometer (daily driver), and I honestly love her.

Now that my C7 is paid off, I am redirecting that monthly expenditure toward future need mausoleum space on the "lay away plan" :nightmare:

(Only kidding)

Planning on a C8 around 2022 model year. Keeping the C7 in the meantime.

I feel the same way about stepping up to a 2019 GS , Arctic White Vert with red top and red interior , oh yeah! . Really love the wide body .Honestly one of the things holding me back is I am so happy and satisfied with my 2015 which has been essentially bullet proof I am afraid to start over and end up with a problem car. As much as i love this web site I read so many folks who have issues with their C7's it makes me thank the gods i got a good one. Scares me to start over after all these are just machines and sometimes they don't operate correctly. It would devastate me to be fighting with a dealer or GM over my C7 when I have a perfect one I'd have given up. Not to mention I'm sure I'd take a big hit on it's value if i sold it.
Love to have one but not likely for me.

It's a tough call, I went for it for a lot of the reasons noted by Nleischen above. Although I love my 2015 Stingray, which has been trouble-free, this was my last chance to get a Z06 the way I want it, so I placed an order a few weeks ago, the car was built two days ago and now I'm waiting for delivery - oh, and selling the 2015, of course! I wish I could keep both, but neither garage space nor economic reality will allow that.

How many people plan on buying a C8?

Curious to know if any of you are planning on buying a C8. Myself personally I will wait until the Z06 is released then find one that someone has traded one in with 2k miles on it and then buy that at a huge discount plus hopefully they will have the many kinks worked out by then.

It would take a lot of wife convincing, but I definitely won't touch one the first year released. To have a good comfort level that all the kinks are worked out, year 3 might be an option.

This has been discussed somewhat here already recently so here is a thread that was started along the same lines:

"Buying another C7 when C8 comes out"
