Why did the all-new 2014 Corvette get the Stingray badge?
The 2014 Corvette represents such a dramatic change that it deserved a new name. Stingray is an iconic name for Chevrolet, and the all-new Corvette is deserving of the badge. Much like how a Stingray flows through the water, Corvette was designed with smooth surface transitions that allow air to flow at very high speeds. The all-new 2014 Corvette will feature a Stingray logo on the front fender. There are no “base” level Corvette models for the 2014 model year.

What sort of aerodynamic work went into the design?
When it comes to aerodynamics, the new Corvette Stingray is in a league of its own. Advanced computer-aided modeling programs were employed to predict and track airflow over, under and through the new Corvette’s body. Engineers and designers also relied on data gleaned from the Corvette Racing program – the most successful program ever in the American Le Mans Series and the 2012 GT class champion – to help balance front and rear grip for high-speed stability.

What are some of the other exterior enhancements to the 2014 Corvette?
From front to rear, the newly designed Corvette Stingray is a prestigious statement of technology and functionality — and still instantly recognizable as the sports car innovator in the global automotive landscape. Standard HID Xenon low/high beam headlamps, LED lighting (Daytime Running Lamps, park and turn) and new finishes around the lamps and grille project a very high-tech and aggressive front look. That look carries around to the side, where a new “upper look” showcases a sleek profile. Large exhaust tips, a redesigned LED center high-mounted stop lamp integrated into the rear spoiler and a unique four-element taillamp design can be found on the rear.

In addition, a removable body-color carbon fiber roof panel will be standard on Corvette, while a transparent and visible carbon fiber roof panel with body-color surrounds is available. Finally, five highly functional air vents contribute to cooling or reduced lift.

Why the departure from the traditional Corvette circular taillamps?
The design intent of the 2014 Corvette Stingray was to look forward and match the next level of driving experience. The all-new dual-element taillamps are among the car’s most dramatic elements. The three-dimensional, sculpted lenses house innovative indirect LED lighting. The state-of-the-art lighting uses hidden LED lamps that cast their light up from the bottom of the housing into a reverse reflector, creating an even glow. LED lamps are also used for the white backup lamps. The taillamps integrate functional aircraft-style air outlets for the available differential and transmission coolers.

How has the interior been enhanced?
An important part of the redesign of Corvette was creating a driver-centric interior that could provide a deeper enjoyment on both road and track. Premium materials, dual eight-inch configurable driver/infotainment screens, a driver-oriented cockpit and a new steering wheel reflect a heightened sense of sophistication and confidence. Plus, hand-wrapped and -stitched IP and door inserts provide a customized feel, while the use of real carbon fiber, available micro-suede, real aluminum and hand-wrapped leather materials add to the highly prestigious atmosphere. Learn more about interior features in the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Sales Guide.

Have the seats been enhanced?
Yes, the seating inside Corvette Stingray has been completely redesigned. An all-new structure features lightweight magnesium frames and improvements to bolstering, fit and performance hold. Two options will be available – a standard GT seat that’s designed for all-around comfort and support, and an available Competition Sport seat (late availability) for more aggressive support on the track. Both seats come standard with 8-way power and offer available power lumbar, wing adjust, heating and cooling.

What engine powers the all-new Corvette Stingray?
A 6.2L LT1 V8 engine will power Corvette Stingray, making it the most powerful standard Corvette ever (GM-estimated 450 horsepower and 450 lb.-ft. of torque), the quickest standard Corvette ever (estimated 0-60 mph performance of less than 4 seconds) and the most fuel-efficient Corvette ever (estimated by GM to exceed the 2013 EPA estimated 26 MPG highway). This technological powerhouse integrates a suite of advanced technologies that can only be found in a handful of engines around the world – Direct Injection, Active Fuel Management™ and Continuously Variable Valve Timing to support an advanced combustion system.

What are some of the performance enhancements included in the next-generation Corvette?
Corvette Stingray drivers will be able to master any road or situation they desire with Corvette Racing-influenced features, numerous advancements in engineering and world-class technologies. Some of those include the new Driver Mode Selector, electric power steering, a power tilt and telescoping steering column, electronic limited slip differential, Brembo® brakes, 8-way power seats and a new 7-speed manual transmission with Active Rev Matching. There’s also a track-capable Z51 Performance Package and available Magnetic Selective Ride Control™. Learn more about each of these features in the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Sales Guide.

What’s included in the Z51 Performance Package?
The Z51 Performance Package will be offered as the top performance Stingray. This package includes larger 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels, a dry sump oil system, eLSD, larger front brakes (13.6-inch vs. 12.6-inch) with slotted rotors and black calipers, specific shocks, springs and stabilizer bars, differential and transmission cooling, a unique Aero package that reduces lift for high speed stability and unique gear ratios for both the manual and paddle shift automatic transmission. Magnetic Selective Ride Control with Performance Traction Management is available. In addition, the Michelin Pilot Super Sport ZP tire is unique and aggressively tuned to provide outstanding handling, grip and road-holding capability.

Will the 2014 Corvette be offered in a convertible or high-performance variant?
No information is being released regarding future Corvette products but we are always looking to increase performance.

What exterior colors will be offered?
Corvette Stingray will be offered in 10 attractive colors: Arctic White, Black, Blade Silver, Crystal Red (extra cost), Cyber Gray, Laguna Blue (extra cost), Lime Rock Green, Night Race Blue, Torch Red and Velocity Yellow (extra cost).

How will Corvette be packaged?
Corvette will be offered in three very-well-equipped trims: 1LT, 2LT and 3LT. 1LT is geared for the purist, 2LT for those seeking popular features and 3LT for those who want the ultimate. Be sure to download the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Sales Guide for full details.

How will Corvette be priced?
Corvette is expected to offer more technology, performance and design than significantly higher-priced competitors. It will be the best sports car regardless of price. If you could afford a 2013 Corvette, you will be able to afford a 2014 Corvette Stingray. Stay tuned to and for pricing announcements.

Given that the C7 is being marketed as the must have vehicle, and it is all kinds of pretty, I was wondering if they are going to be producing any more C6's. I mean, if the C7 is supposed to be the same price as the last C6, wouldn't you want to wait for a 2014? Also, I did hear from my dealer that the 2014 will be the only model to carry the Stingray badge. The 2015 model will just be an ordinary C7. I wonder if they will "downgrade" the base model a bit soas not to out-shine the new flagship vehicle.

As they say in England... 'The King is dead... Long live the King'

Now... when will first 'production' C7 roll from that line? And where are produced cars stored until sale in 4Q13?... on dealers lots? There's going to be a lot of slobber and nose prints on the windows of those cars!! Can't wait!!

Sorry that doesn't make sense having the stingray name for only 1 year? Maybe he's thinking about a different model like the Z51?

Updated info.:

"Attached for your reference is an updated 2014 Corvette Stingray Salesperson Reference Guide with further information on the convertible model. has also been updated with a set of Frequently Asked Questions and Answers.

On Monday, March 18, 2013, those dealers we anticipate will earn 2014 Corvette Stingray initial allocation will receive a letter outlining the applicable training and special tool requirements. These dealers will also be able to review the estimated production guide number for the initial production period of the 2014 Corvette Stingray coupe and convertible. Please remember when you review the estimated production guide number; the number is based on Chevrolet’s estimated production schedule, which remains subject to change. Many factors will affect the actual production quantities, including but not limited to product and part constraints, government requirements and evolving marketplace conditions. Therefore, this estimate is not a volume commitment. Chevrolet reserves the right to change the Corvette Stingray distribution plan or the timing for implementation of that plan from time to time at its sole business discretion.

Dealers who do not earn a 2014 Corvette Stingray during the initial allocation period will have the opportunity to agree to the training and special tools requirements approximately six to nine months from now depending on production startup. These dealers will see an estimated guide number at that time, and will be able to submit orders only after agreeing to the applicable special tools and training requirements. Further information will be shared with these dealers sometime after start of regular production of the 2014 Corvette Stingray coupe model.

Production of the 2014 Corvette Stingray coupe is scheduled to start late summer and units should begin to arrive in dealerships in early fall 2013. We are all excited to see the new roads our customers will find with the all-new Corvette Stingray."

Dealers who are getting Stingrays now know how many they are getting. My good friend at a dealership in Texas is getting over 50 coupes. 50! And he doesn't sell over MSRP.

Have your dealer PROVE to you they can order. Ask to see their estimated guide number from Chevrolet. Many are just talking the talk, just as they did with the Camaro. Some will add mandatory add ons, such as paint protection, glass etching, etc..... others will wait until your car arrives and tell you unless you pay added markup, you no longer can have your car because of "market pricing". Yes, all these horrors happened with the Camaro.

Work with a dealer you can trust.....and ask to talk to one of their first Camaro deliveries as a reference :)

I received a call from my dealer on Saturday (4/27) - said they had been allocated 3 coupes and 2 verts - took my deposit for one of the coupes - a quote from the dealer, in writing, "We have a 9 month production window starting in mid to late June. Chevrolet has not given us a build schedule other than our allocation will be built within the 9 month time frame. As discussed, the car will be sold at MSRP, plus all taxes, tag fees, and a 699.50 dealer fee".
