After delivery of my new C7 last year the transmission made a "clunk" when shifting from 1st to 2nd. At 700 miles dealer told me to ignore and it would go away after time. Vehicle now has 4000 miles and I took it back to the dealer and said this car still makes noise. Corvette technician took a ride with me and agreed. Found out that a flywheel spring was missing from the transmission and is being repaired. Anyone else ever experience that?

So how annoyed are you at your original dealer who told you to ignore it and it will go away after a while?

Mine makes a squeak sound when going from 2nd to 3rd and sometimes from 3rd to 4th. My service manager doesn't know what it is, doesn't want to start taking things apart to figure out what it is, and can't find any information from GM about what it might be.

Nothing a little WD-40 can't take care of

Jeremy; If you have an NPP exhaust, it might well be the valves squeaking? WD40 as Jeff suggests will help with that, but not for long. A higher temp. lube is required.

Are we talking clutch pressure plate spring here? (which is not inside the tranny) Or something actually inside the tranny?

Curious as the shifting in my car does not feel right either.

zrider,

Sorry to hear about your transmission woes. I realize how concerning that would be and apologize for any displeasure. Keep us posted on the results of your dealer visit. If necessary, I can contact their designated Customer Experience Manager if you have any additional questions. We'll look forward to your updates :).

Spray it where, exactly? Thanks for the help!

Will definitely keep you posted when repaired. I'll check the serial # and get that out too.

Not sure of the details regarding the issue but all the dealer said was "a spring in the transmission for the flywheel".

If I knew more about cars I'd let you know more detail but I just like driving, can't repair much.

c7 manual transmission issues

Certainly will update all when resolved including serial # of vehicle.
Spoke to dealer today and new parts scheduled to be delivered and technician is scheduled to repair tomorrow.

Dealer is right on it and I'm very pleased so far.

Jeremy; Based on other reports of "that squeak" try a light spray lube with its extension tube into the areas that the valve shaft pivots in within the exhaust. A liberal "hosing" both internally and a shot or two inboard of the actuator should be enough. If this is the source of your squeak this should address it, at least for the short term.

The Vette has a dual mass flywheel. They have springs between the pieces. Could have been one of these. Expect that would make a "clunk."

Hello guys;
I have 1600 miles on my C7. It's a manual transmission. I'm not sure if this is normal: there's a sound (I think from the clotch-tranny, like a loose gap between gear wheels backing up and down "clack-clack") when I start moving the car and change gears (pressing the pedal) at low speed (more evident changing from 1st-2nd). So... this is a very commun issue. Is GM fixing this problem under warranty?
