I just turned in my 2022 C8 Corvette z51 3LT with 5000 miles because the transmission would not go in reverse to the dealership. The service technician informed me that within the past 6 months there has been numerous C8's in for transmission problems. My C8 was the second one recently turned in for the same thing. He also indicated that it may take up to 3-4 weeks before I get my C8 back. Apparently, GM doesn't allow dealership mechanics to go into the transmissions. So, they have to wait for GM before anything can be done.

02/06/23, update. My C8 is still at the dealership. Nothing has been done. Going on 6 weeks. I made contact with the service advisor last week. Apparently, there is a serious communication problem with GM and the Chevrolet dealerships. GM will not approve a transmission replacement until the mechanic does a diagnostic evaluation as per their instructions. This may require taking the transmission apart. It doesn't matter that all the diagnostic codes were downloaded and sent to GM. The dealership only has two transmission bays and one C8 mechanic. In the past they have done this but after taking the transmission down they had to either order a transmission or a part which could take days or weeks. The vehicle would occupy that transmission bay while they were waiting for the part or further instructions from GM. Not good for business! So, the dealership will no longer do the internal diagnostic unless they have a transmission on hand so they can get the vehicle repaired quickly. So, GM and the dealership are now debating this issue while my C8 is parked in the lot with the other C8's.

There was another C8 owner who has been waiting longer for a transmission and he got tired of his C8 parked in the lot and so he towed his C8 home. The problem is if and when a transmission arrives the dealership will not repair his C8 because the vehicle isn't at the dealership. It will also prevent him from going to another dealership because he already has a work order at this dealership.

GM is supposed to keep me up to date, but they haven't contacted me in over 11 days even though they were to call me at least once or twice a week. Yes, I have called and left messages.

If anyone in this forum has had any similar experience, please share it and if you got it resolved please let us know.

At some point a class action lawsuit should be considered.

Are they giving you an appropriate lender car while you wait for yours back?
No, the dealership stopped all loaner cars during the pandemic in 2020 and hasn't revised the program. My corvette is still in the dealership as of today 01/30/23. I finally called GM customer service and they are trying to find out why it's taking so long. The dealership is telling me one story and telling GM another. It appears the dealership only has one certified C8 mechanic and several C8's waiting.
