Placed my order last Saturday 9/24 -Lime Rock Green with Kalahari interior, z51 and 3Lt. I was hoping to add black wheels, but somewhere around adding the magnetic ride, the option for the black wheels was blocked by the software. I can't fathom why. The salesman said he's seen that happen when ordering Cameros so it wasn't the first time he's seen this. Still, this seems so weird to me. Any chance this is a mistake? If not, can someone explain to me how simply making the wheels black would change them so much that they couldn't be included with certain options?

I don't have an answer but I'm going to change my order to add magnetic ride but if it deletes the black wheels I'm not sure which I would rather. I WANT BLACK WHEELS and can love without Magnetic ride

Awesome! Thank you.

The allocation thing confuses me. The dealer is saying that they "will" get cars allocated to them and they do seem to be certified for Corvette. I got on their list back in June, but was only able to build the car last Saturday. Could I be doing better somewhere else, do you think? At least they didn't charge anything over MSRP...

The more I think about this, the more I think I recognize you. There was an article on price gauging and you and your dealership were one of three mentioned that could be trusted not to do that. Corvette blogger or something like that, right? I actually called your dealership back in July, I think. Not sure why I went local, now, other than I was under the impression everyone would be given their allocation at the same time. That is clearly not the case.

I take it you have already been given your allocation and my local dealership has not, is that it? So would it be faster to be late on your list than early on my local dealerships? They are pretty conservative and careful in what they say, but they are saying I probably won't "take delivery until spring". With GM saying the other day that Bowling Green will start punching out 20 cars a day for a while and ramping up to 130 cars per day before long, I was already questioning that math.

Would be happy to talk to you via voice if that is easier.

I don't know, but I did order the Z51 and the 3LT package. As the sales manager was walking down the order form on the computer, the minute we selected the magnetic ride the black wheels option became greyed out and unselectable. The silver and chrome remained available. Just the black got knocked out. None of us could come up with even a bad guess as why that would be the case.

Thanks for the help everyone. I called the dealer today and they re-tried building my car with black wheels and it worked! Salesman said it was still greyed out on the software (which indicates that it's not available), but we hadn't tried just clicking it anyway when I was sitting there. Today they tried selecting it and it worked! Woohoo!

Allocation: You are going to smack me for my answer, but I guess they have allocation. When I talked to the dealer yesterday about the black wheels, I asked him about his allocation. He said they are still hoping to get at least six but so far they haven't heard what their allocation will be. In the same breath he said the first two orders they have were already picked up by GM. "So you DO have allocation then?", I asked. He replied that GM had not told them what their allocation will be even though they picked up the first two orders. At least this confirms that they WILL get some kind of allocation, right?

I'm beginning to feel stupid about this as even the term "orders" confuses me. I put a deposit down in July, but I was not allowed to place my build until last Saturday (8/24). I considered last Saturday my order, but my deposit should have gotten me in line a little earlier, right? If I am being ignorant or naive about any of this, please call. Otherwise I will sit tight and let everything work out.

At least I got my black wheels dammit.... :)

Thank you.

I am pretty sure your dealer should know exactly how many total C7s they were allocated for the first 9 months. What they would not know in detail is how many of their allocation get accepted in each wave by GM.
