Does anyone have a link showing what the GM CF dash is really made of? ABS Hydrocarbon or ABS covered with real carbon fiber?

Agreed but I was told by the dealer it was really ABS covered. He did not say exactly what covered the ABS. He could of course be wrong. But so far he has been correct on all occasions. Not sure how much it matters but for $1000 I would feel better if it was real. I have not ordered yet. And I like the look sooooooo.

I have the cf dash and yes, I paid 1k for it. I think you said somewhere you are buying through Purifoy? That's where I bought my C7. I had a great experience with them. I'm just a little surprised the salesman would suggest the cf dash is anything but cf.
Maybe one of our more experienced friends on the forum will chime in with facts on this.
With that said, I'm still real sure it's the real thing.

Mobius, looks like allot of work and time..... Hoping the CF dash option won't be on constraint when I order. Otherwise I might get stuck doing this anyway, but I certainly hope not.
Tom, in my opinion, the standard dash looks pretty good even without being the nicer carbon fiber version. After seeing the standard dash, I decided it was plenty nice enough for me. So, I don't think it is the end of the world if the CF is on constraint. However, if you want to go all out, I can understand that, too.

Anyway, for me, I am just going with the standard dash. It looks nice to me, and does not seem cheap or tacky. GM did a nice job even on the standard offerings, in my opinion.

What Purifoy said was that it was ABS behind. They did not say it was not cf on the surface. GM just called me back and said it was real cf. They did not know if it was solid cf. In my opinion I think carbon fiber covered ABS would be structurally better. So likely that is what they did so it would not crack. It is a pretty big piece and looks Labor intensive to replace.

Is it worth $995, no. Will I buy it anyway, probably!

I spoke with the dealer again on Sat. He confirmed that the dash is a layer of carbon fiber over AMS moulding. If you think about it this is better. If it were solid cf I fear it would be prone to cracking in thin areas. This way it will last. If fact if you search the net you will find some selling the actual GM part with a photo of the back with the part numbers. Clearly ABS or some other plastic. I wll probably order it since I will be getting 3LT anyway. Why stop there. Might as well go all out!
