My order from MacMulkin is currently stuck at 1100 because of a painted roof constraint. While waiting for an update I am considering changing order from chrome wheels to black. The car is a Laguna coupe, red interior, carbon mirrors and spoiler. I have seen vettes with both wheels but need suggestions or comments to help me make a final decision. To me black wheels make the car look sinister, racey, bad. On the other hand chrome is old school, classic, smooth. elegant. I've always been a chrome guy ( 2003 ANVS FATBOY with solid chrome wheels and everything else imaginable) but am tempted to go black. I'm imagining the guy next to me at a red light wondering" is that guy going to light up those big black wheels with a ton of smoke" or the other scenario, " oh Harry, what a good looking, shiney automobile". By the way not that it matters at 71 but I'm ready to give you younger whipper snappers a run for your money any time any place. Help me out, I think I'm losing it. MUZZY

Chrome all the way... black ones are much harder to clean and maintain.

Old school chrome for me. But if I were going black, I'd go with the Z51 black machined finish.

I ordered the silver wheels, and will have them powder coated black gloss. Better coating than the factory black, and end result cost about the same.

i went with chrome.. easier to accessorize i think and the old school attitude is the way to go.. i think black and other wheel colors will date a car

I'm a young guy here, but I like chrome and bright colors. I personally don't like dark rims.

There are two LB in my area, one with black wheels and one with chrome. I twist my neck a little farther when the chrome one passes by. It also has the red calipers on it.
VERY CLASSY looking! Black is not too shabby though. As you've read many times, there is not a bad color combo on these cars!

I disagree with some of the comments above. First black wheels do not chip easier if they are done properly with powder coating instead of paint. I have 8000 on my car and no chips anywhere of the wheels. Also I think it is important to go with gloss back instead of a dull black. Gloss black matches all the other black on the car. I have always done chrome but I get more compliments about my blacks wheels than my friends with chrome. It looks like is just came off a race track.

Skip, obviously powdercoat is the answer but thats not what he was asking....if you are deciding on the stock black wheels or chrome, yes, the black ones will chip.

I went with chrome and I love them. My 01 was triple black with black wheels. On a recent round trip Columbus Ohio from Memphis, I saw 8 or truckloads of Vettes... on every truck Vettes, block wheels outnumbered chrome/painted. On 2 or 3 trucks, every Vette had black wheels. I know they were popular, but was surprised to see so many.

I was stuck at 1100 til I dropped the dual top, painted and see through. Went with standard paint. Had to drop the chrome wheels andordered the standard Z51 wheels. We have a lot of custom car and wheel places in the San Fernando Valley. zDealer will have them chromed with a 3 year warranty. I might havethem polished. Haven't decided yet.
Get the standard wheels and chrome after you get your Vette My TPW is 10-27- I placed my order on 09-2
