Hi Elegant:

I am about to take delivery of a coupe in a week or two with Comp. Seats and am I to assume that it will be recalled prior to delivery? Was there only 712 units built with the optional seats? Seems like a low number.
Thanks for any knowledge you can share with me.

Darn good questions. We do not know whether 712 comp seats were all that were ordered this year. GM originally set the take rate on the comp seats at 10%, so that would lead one to believe that, if they were in the ballpark with their estimate, they would have sold approximately 3,000 with comp seats so far, but even with the comp seats significantly delayed availability (approx. half of this production year) and constraints on that option even after they were generally availabile, it is still unlikely they have not delivered 1,000 or more -- but this is conjecture, not based on hard facts.

There is a specific issue someone had last week with the delivery of their comp seats (this was at a time when there were only 33 recalled for this issue), and GM, after initial hesitation delivered his comp seat StingRay in the last two days -- suggesting, but not confirming that they had determined his VIN was not involved.

Have sent an e mail to someone who might be able to ferret out more info, and will see if more info is available at this time. Send me a PM with your VIN; that could help us learn more -- though again having both my 2006 Z06 (low beam headlights) and my 2012 Cruze (driver's airbag) up for recalls, even my dealer is telling me that though they have my VINS, GM has not shared which of those vehicles are being recalled (or even if all of them are). With GM, as of yesterday, having recalled over 20,00,000 vehicles this year, and more recalls seemingly being announced every day, they are behind on getting all this info out.

Hi Stung and Elegant,

Sorry to hear you maybe involved Stung! But, we are also able to run VIN's for recalls. If you want to send us your VIN (any GM vehicle) we would be more than happy to let you know what we see in the system.

Thanks,

Kelly J.
