As I am sure that many of you have already seen the pictures, I will not bore you with my late news too much. This last weekend at the Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races, Corvette Racing rolled out the brand new C7.R for a few hot laps of the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

The new racer donned some heavy camo, but the discerning eye, and some 1-inch away from the screen scrutinizing will give you the basic idea of what this low, wide, and lean racer is going to bring to the table this upcoming American Le Mans Racing Series. You will notice right off, that the fenders are flared and stretched over an impressive wheel and tire setup. The next thing I noticed was that huge tray of a front splitter. (I love me some leading edge aero) The snout of this thing is wide open to get a whole lot of air to what is speculated to be the 5.5-liter pushrod V8 of the incredibly decorated and winning C6.R. Obviously the rear end is smashed into the Earth by a huge wing on the rear deck, and underbody pressure is relieved by a huge diffuser. (Did I mention that I love aero?) And that classic mark of the Le Mans race car, the side exiting pipes burning the ever loving crap out of that vinyl camo.

The car is scheduled to hit the track for it's first actual race this coming January at the Rolex 24 at Daytona. I cannot wait to see this thing without camo! Above is a rendering as to what the car could very well look like.
