Here is the very latest, updated info on what GM's is doing with placed orders. Thanks Dave Salvatore.
"Lately, GM has been going to ordering Corvettes every other week instead of every week, so let's assume we are in one of the weeks with allocation.
When a dealer places your order into the GM System, he has a "Preliminary Order" which is event code 1100. On Thursday, every dealer is told how many cars he can order. He has until Saturday at 9:00 PM EST to put enough orders into the preliminary tab to cover how many orders he has to order. Those orders must fit into any options constraints out that week.
On Tuesday morning, those orders all go to Even Code 2000. At that point, the dealer has till 9:00 PM to make changes to those order or actually replace them with other orders provided that they fit the allocation and constraints.
On Wednesday morning, those cars are at Event Code 3000.
So, with you example, if you walk into a dealer on Monday and he has available allocation to fill your order, you should be at 3000 by Wednesday.
Just because the dealer says your order is placed and gives you an order number, it does not mean that GM will pick up your order. You can remain at event code 1100 for ever if the dealer never gets an allocation."
He also noted that unlike Cyber Gray (ordering window already closed), LRG orders are expected to be accepted till the last consensus cycle -- which most are expecting that deadline being about a month to six weeks from now.
