Hi,

I am the new owner of an AW 3LT Z51 C7 automatic with the black interior and black calipers. Even though I have most options excluding the black wheels and magnetic ride control or racing stripes, I am contemplating smoking the rear lights and side markers with the Rustoleum Lens Tint. I have heard and seen a few good results from using this product and wanted to get some fellow C7 owner opinions.

I am also thinking of powder coating my wheels a gloss black and painting my calipers white for contrast. I have heard people talking about Plasticoating, but I am not sure how this measures up against traditional painting or powder coating.

Any suggestion, thoughts or opinions?

Thanks!

WHAT? Your car is drop dead gorgeous now! The wheels look assume now. If I was ordering the White, that's the way I would have ordered the wheels. I am an old guy so maybe that is why I think that way. Have fun, and enjoy your new ride. I am 4 weeks into my order and still waiting:( Oh well, it will be worth it!

Thanks for the input!
I think I will shy away from the white calipers (for now, lol). I have decided to paint the stingray and corvette emblems gloss black to match the vent inserts. How hard is it to remove them? I could precision tape them off if re-applying them may be an issue. Also, how hard is it to remove the tail lights? I will be tinting these with Rust-oleum Lens Tint.

I am also thinking of putting some type of 3-D carbon fiber stripe on the hood. Any suggestions on design/vendors?

your vents are carbon flash so gloss black won't match perfectly - see my build thread for where to get the corvette emblem in carbon flash
flags are indented so you have to real careful pulling them off...
rear facia has to come off to get to tails..
see the appearance section for my post on debadge..

Thanks for the info Glen. I looked up the paint code for the carbon flash and ordered a can. I will leave the emblems on the car and very carefully tape around them. I'll probably mask off half the car because I am scared of overspray, lol. I was hoping that the tails would be easier to get to, but I'll just mask the rear end to tint them.

My wheels came off today and are being powered coated gloss black. I don't know why I didn't just order the black wheels to begin with. Nonetheless, the cost to powder coat was only $120 more than the dealer's option price.

It feels kinda weird not having her home for a few days.

All of you have more corvette experience than me. Had an 81 and loved it.
If you were going to put 1 modification on the c7 what would it be

Thanks

Tint....35% all around is usually legal in most states...

if not tint then lowering via the bolts - looks better, rides the same, still clears parking curbs, speed bumps - no downsides to it...

LET ME START BY SAYING CONGRATS! We did a gen 5 Camaro with White calipers and it looked great against the white body. So I think ya go for it.
