Forget Daytona Orange Sunrise Metallic being delayed by weeks. GM was candid, and accurate, in April when they said that Daytona Sunrise Orange Metallic would be a "delayed availability" color. Most of us thought that meant a couple of weeks, perhaps a month. Yesterday heard from a third person, the word "November."

That sure qualifies as a delayed availability option. Those who ordered it, or are about to order it, might think about plan "B," unless you are a committed orange Corvette person.

A lot of the confusion is because they haven't published the ordering guide or the build it portion of the website. When they do I'm pretty sure it will have the words (Late Availability) next to it. Had that been clear on the initial order guides a lot of this could be mitigated.

Perhaps they were hoping to get it earlier in the mix but couldn't, I suppose we will never know for sure. There was one rumor that they needed to complete the LRG build out before they could reconfigure the paint shop and do the pre-qualification work. Sounds reasonable but then how do you explain Shark Gray other than they stopped painting Cyber Gray back in June.

I ordered my DSOM the first week of July. Last week I checked the Chevy Order Status website and they had a rendition of the color I am expected to receive. I posted one on the DSOM thread. I will post all three screen shots here. Hopefully it may help someone trying to make a decision.

Maybe the proposed paint failed accelerated aging testing. I'm hoping for a nice bright orange.
From what I've seen it's a dark/dirty orange.

We were told at the Bash that is not a "Hugger orange," but a "burnt orange," though lighter and brighter than 2005-2006 Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic.

To each their own, but those photos don't flatter the C7.

I'm sure it will look different "in the flesh"

I would be very careful judging the color of a car , like or dislike , from a rendering in the internet such as you see on the GM website. First it's a rendering , not a photo so who knows how close it is, lighting on paint , indoor , outdoor can change the look dramatically. A computer rendering deals with none of that. Secondly every monitor replicates colors just a little differently. What you see on one computer might look quite different on another and really quite different in reality. It is really a shot in the dark to say the GM website truly characterizes the new orange, it might, but it is more likely not to, particularly a metallic paint. Kinda like horseshoes, close is likely good enough but expect some variance.

I keep telling my wife... "patience grasshopper..." as she is chomping at the bit to get the DSOM color. We had an '05 in DSunsetOM with cashmere top and interior, Z51, etc... The cashmere top kept us on constraint for almost 6 months due to the creasing issue GM was trying to resolve. We finally got the car (NCM Delivery) and loved it. It really caught eyes as we tooled around town and on the interstate. It was a 6spd manual and the wife hated driving a stick in traffic of Atlanta, so we sold it and she went back to her 2000 MY vert.

fingers crossed for this constraint to be removed soon...

I am patiently waiting for the new orange as well. The wait will help me make a bigger down payment. I hope that I like the color after the wait. If I don't, then will just change to yellow :)
