Common problem. You have to move the nozzle around in different positions until you find one that works. Someone posted that they hold the nozzle upside down. Some gas pumps seem to be more sensitive than others.

It can happen to many different types of cars. It depends a lot on the particular pump used. Just move the pump nozzle around in the car intake as TNSQUIRE said.

Would recommend you keep more gas in your
tank. Having tank low on fuel increases the
chance of condensation in the tank. I keep mine
at least half full. As my father once said
he would rather use off the top half versus the bottom
half.

Welcome to our forum foosy. Have you continued to have the fill shut off problem? Consider a different gas station as an alternative.

I have tried a different gas station and it did not do it.but the way i look at it, it should not act that way no matter where you get your gas at.tried different position of the pump lever no different got a equnoix and it does not act that way at the same gas stations.takeing it in next week to let them look at it.

I guess I have been lucky with my choice of station or something. I have filled it up many times now and have never had the issue. (knocking on wood table)

If you do enough car rentals on trips, you will find a lot of car/gas station combinations which have this problem.

Same here, never had that problem...yet.

Similarly no issues with RedHot to date on any fill up, did have that occur with my Porsche from time to time. As stated elsewhere, it is not an uncommon occurrence and probably is more linked to the specific nozzle sensor rather than your car.

The only time I have issue is then I push the nozzle in all the way. When I put gas in, I put it in all the way, then back it out about an inch or so and it works perfectly. My fiance's mustang on the other hand is the devil. I've tried everything to get it to flow properly, but I guess it is just a temperamental blue oval. Anyway, I agree with the other posters, I don't think the dealer will be able to do anything about it.

The reason that I fill it up after it's at 3/4 of A tank full. Then it only takes $15 to fill it.I don't want to wait til it's empty and put in how much $75. I guess it don't make sense what I do.Cause I run the same amount of miles either way.So really it's costing me the same.
I just don't want to pay A big amount at A time.Unless I go on A trip.

Thrilled, if you use a credit card, its all the same at the end of the month. Years ago, I had a friend with a MG Midget with a 948 cc engine in a car that weighed about 1200 pounds. He would only fill his tank half way, because he didn't want to be carrying around the extra weight of 5 or 6 more gallons. Thought it affected his "performance".
