OK, here's the laugher of the day. Where do I attach the front license plate?? The plastic decorative piece that comes off when you take the cover off of it has a "no license plate" illustration on it, and there's no where to put the plate on there anyway.
There's nothing on the grill or behind it that I can see to attache the plate to. I live in WA state so the car had to come with a plate attachment, even though it was purchased on MI. They know I lived in WA. Is there something missing?

You should have received two different, separately packaged front license plate mounting brackets with the car.

Use the "aero" bracket. Ignore the notice on the plastic. Drill four small holes at the indentations that line up with your plate. You need to provide the four screws needed to attach the plate to the bracket.

I have it mounted on mine.

It only shows the install of the big ugly, aka nose scratcher.

By the way, has anyone seen the front brackets for the Z06 grille?

We have not, though we have been told that the Z's aero bracket is less wide. Can't be much less wide, as still has to hold a license plate.

Guess I'll have to drill holes. The holes on the bracket aren't lined up with the 7" holes in the license plate. No hardware/screws came with it either. I don't think anyway. I did the museum delivery. One of the options on my car was the ($150 I think?!) aero bracket. So the original bracket was in the trunk with the stock carpets etc, and the one I paid for was on the car. But here's the kicker, the one that they took off and that was in the trunk, is the exact same item, except the one that I paid for is shinier. Really GM? Jeeezzzzz.
So now I'm out whatever I paid for the shiny version, and have to make a trip out to the hardware store for a couple self tappers.
So what's with the "No License Plate" logo on the panel?

When I picked up my 2015 Stingray there were two possible front license plate mounting brackets. The one shown in the video above is supposedly only for mounting the black decorative Corvette insert (as shown). It is slightly pointed or rounded, and has DO NOT USE FOR MOUNTING LICENSE PLATE written on it, so GM absolves itself if anyone mounts their plate on a non-standard surface (i.e. it's not flat). However, that is the one that I used. The second mounting bracket that came with the car, the sanctioned one, is almost identical to the rounded or slightly bent one except, that it is flat and protrudes out slightly further than the rounded one. IT DOES NOT mount as shown in the video where it wraps up and over the nose of the car possibly scratching the paint. It fits within the grille as does the decorative one.
Are different mounting brackets provided in different states, or has the legal bracket changed from 2014 to 2015?

Very strange. I tore thru every box and carton they put in my trunk at the museum delivery. None of the below instructions or parts, except for the very large plastic screws that mount the unit to the grill. I was very careful with everything so sure it's not there.
No matter, I'll drill holes and buy large self tapping screws at Ace is the Place Hardware.
Thanks for sending the pictures! Now I know I haven't lost my mind. LOL!

BTW as per above post from FrankM, both of the units have the "no plate mount" stamp on them. Life is weirder than fiction.

There ya go Ret9580..... Actually, I haven't displayed a front license plate in years and haven't run into any problems. The Cobra hasn't had one since 2000 when I first put it on the road, so there's over 14-years and I never installed one on the 370Z, which I had for 2-years without any problems. Maybe I don't bring attention to myself or I don't drive enough miles, or maybe it's where I live, but I'm not planning on installing the front license plate unless I have to. Regardless, I'm buying the silly bracket for my Z06, but hopefully I'll never need to use it.

Very nice piece cms36, thanks for sharing. Front license plates are also required in California as well. Not sure when the law was enacted and while I recall the law having been strictly enforced years ago, the highway patrol, so it seems in my neck of the woods, has lightened up or relaxed the enforcement over the past several years. Will be looking into this cool part from Zip as it might come in handy for those of us that might be inclined to install, remove and re-install as Ret9580 put it.

I'm in Virginia so it's required for me.

Zip Corvette has a snap on bracket.

Anybody tried it? Watched the video and it seems like a decent option. The bracket snaps in, nothing to screw into the car.

Here's the link.

Front Aero license plate

I am in Texas. (Obviously from pic)
I used the front aero bracket. Drilled holes at dimples (as suggested on a thread hear) and fits perfect.
Also have the black rubber surround from Pep Boys.

I hate putting a front plate on mine but as a side effect of no state budget IL localities have been writing more tickets for expired plates because the secretary of state office no longer sends out registration expiration reminders. So both the rear plate sticker and required front plate are getting more scrutiny. I ordered the low profile mount from Top Flight Reproductions since its sits lower and away from the grill and it doesn't block nearly as much airflow as the aero plate mount. I bought the matching laguna blue frame for the front plate to reduce the ugliness.

My temp tag doesn't expire until July and then my route 66 theme plates go into place.

As an aside the check I wrote for state sales tax when I registered the car in IL (museum pickup, purchase from MacMulkin) finally cleared the bank Monday over a month after I turned it and the other forms in at the DMV. I had called earlier to check on the process to see whether they had lost the check because the day I filed the paperwork at the DMV when I returned home there was a message waiting on my home phone to call the DMV. The clerk had managed to misplace the certificate of origin (manufacturer certificate that precedes the first title) within 5 minutes of me turning the paperwork in at the office, another clerk found it a short time later but they didn't let me know it had been found until I called back again a few hours later to check up on the process.
