Welcome to our forum Golfchix and congrats on you and your husbands new Z51! If you do a search on our forum for winter storage you will find a number of related posts. With regards to the charger, yes you need to plug it into the accessory in the right rear of the trunk. Gently close the trunk on the flat wire (it will not hurt the trunk nor the wire). Plug the unit into a live wall outlet and press the button to change until it goes to the "car" (the snowflake is for use with gel type batteries like an Optima car battery, not the wet lead acid type that our Stingrays come with). It will then automatically cycle through the options and once your battery is fully charged it will show a green light under the full battery. Then it will continually monitor your battery and cycle through maintenance cycles to keep it from sulfating and keep the charge where you need it. Properly connected you can safely leave it for the entire time you have your car in storage.
