The NCM buyer's tour information page states the following:

Guests
You may bring 1 additional guest at no charge. A maximum of 2 people may go on the Corvette Buyer’s Tour.

This would significantly affect my possible plans as I am traveling my with my wife and 15 year old son. Is this an absolutely firm limit or could I take 2 guests?

Sorry, but 1000% sure that a Buyers Tours has a maximum of two people total.
Why OH Why?!!!!!???!!!!

I was thinking this would be a great option and then courtesy delivery. Now I'm not sure what to do.

Thanks though!

John,
What if docprego were to call Lori or Shane and explain the situation, it's HIS BOY! And we need more young guys in our growing older Corvette hobby.

I'm 1000% willing and eager to make this call. Who would I contact and is it worth my time?

Thank you sir. I'm assuming they're closed for Veteran's day tomorrow but I'll give them a call anyway.

I met Lori, she seems very nice, but don't be surprised if they stick to the rules. I wanted the photo album of my car being built, but couldn't get it because I tried to make the request 7 days before build date rather than the required 10 day notice. Shane said no way they could do it.

One intereting thing I found was an old web page on the NCM site for the XLR builders tour. Since it was based on the C5 it was built at the Bowling Green Assembly Plant. This car hasn't been in production since 2009 but the page for the buyer's tour is still live:

National Corvette Museum - Buyers Tour

The interesting part is that the page states:

Guests
You may bring up to 3 additional guests at no charge. A maximum of 4 people may go on the XLR Buyer’s Tour.

Why did the C7 tour change????

Just talked to Shane at the Museum. He said GM absolutely limits the buyer's tour to you and 1 guest. There goes that idea. :-(

On the bright side museum delivery allows up to 3 guests. Back to the drawing board.

A number of people have been down this road before. If it were me and I had a 15 year old son it would be an easy choice. All three of you fly in, rent a car and do the delivery. You and your son make the drive home and your wife returns the rental and flies home.

This assumes a lot and may seem sexist to some but bonding with your son on the trip home in a new Corvette is one of those experiences HE will tell HIS grandchildren about and that is priceless.

And you do realize the Buyer's Tour and the Museum Delivery, if you wanted to do both, would not be on the same trip? There is at least a two week gap in between the building and the museum delivery?

You COULD do the Buyer's Tour with just one of them, as the number of 2 is very firm for sure.

And you could do Museum Delivery with +3 and drive home with your son, which I think is a smashing idea.

Either or both are good.

Being brutally honest here; leaving one out of the drive home is not an option. Everyone has to be involved. We're thinking about doing the VIP tour now and courtesy delivery. That way everyone sees the plant (albeit not my car) and then the car ships through the GM system. We could plan an entire vacation around the Bowling Green visit.

Museum delivery is still in the discussion too. How firm is the date they set for it?

Once your car is scheduled to be produced you get a call from NCM and they tell you when your normal NCM delivery would take place, giving you some options. The earliest that date would be is about 10 days to 2 weeks following the car rolling off the assembly line. There is a mandatory hold on all NCM cars of that time period. It is possible when they call you to get the NCM delivery delayed to better fit with your plans.

Sure but my comment was based on not being able to drive it home which for me was an integral part of the whole experience.
Well I suppose in regards to that plan. I'm still considering NCM delivery and then shipping it home. I got one recommendation so far for Reliable Carriers inc., any other recommendations?
