I'm having an I issue getting the home link to sink up to the handheld transmitter on one my garage doors. The opener is a new (less than one year old) Genie. The lift master opener programmed and worked fine. Any work arounds?

I don't know if you tried going to homelink.com for solution and/or googling "genie homelink problems", saw others with same difficulty with posts around 2011 timeframe. Try the simplest solution first, replace or trade out battery with known working opener. Hope this helps.

Good tip route,I did find videos on programming and changing my remote from intellicode 2 to intellicode 1. Unfortunately nothing worked. Has anyone been able to program a Genie Intellicode 2 with the vette homelink system?

I originally posted this on another forum but neglected to include it here, sorry about that. It's here now though.

Like many others, I also had seemingly unresolvable issues getting my Homelink control programmed until a very friendly lady with Genie helped me solve the problem.

Equipment involved:
*2014 Z51 Stingray with Homelink on sun visor
*Genie PowerMax 1200 garage door opener with Homelink support

I followed the instructions provided on the Homelink website with no success because the sun visor button would never flash rapidly. I also called their support number but could not actually speak to anyone because the only support available for vehicles built after 2003 is a computerized step-by-step walk through which has no way to actually solve a programming problem. I thought this was extremely poor on their part. I attempted programming with & without putting the remote into Intellicode 1 mode with no success either way.

After a few days of frustration I decided to give Genie a call with little hope of success because Homelink is not actually a Genie service. I was able to speak to an actual person , a very friendly and helpful young lady who said she would help me even though Homelink is not actually their service or product. After going through the same steps I did for the previous days without any success again; she asked me to pull the clip off the back of the Genie remote I was using in an attempt to program the sun visor button with and give her the numbers stamped onto it under the spot where the clip goes. After giving these to her she said; "Aw, there's the problem". The last numbers on my Genie are "2.0.3". She then told me she was going to send me a different remote to use in programming the Homelink in my C7 because the original Genie remote roles the Intellicode codes so fast that the sun visor button could not catch it.

So after a few days I got the promised remote (At no charge) and was able to program the sun visor Homelink on the first attempt!

The model number of the remote she sent me is "GITR-3".

This is how I ultimately solved the problem as we'll. Genie sent me a different remote and it programmed the homelink immediately.

For what it's worth. Changed the opener on my wife's car and the simple Proceedure did not work because the new opener uses multiple codes for security. Her car instructed how to program it, which consisted of following the simple proceedure but pressing the home link button 3 times. That worked. My Vette is on the old door opener so can't provide any input.

My experience with some other GM vehicles is to program it directly off the back of the opener mounted on the ceiling. On the liftmasters there is a button on the back that you have to push and then get down off the ladder and run and push the homelink button. once the door moves it is programmed. I would also caution you about the visor buttons. I have already pushed too hard on one and now it is stuck. Just programmed one of the others until I can take it in for service.

Trouble Programming Sommer Garage Door Opener to Homelink Button

Hi, has anyone been able to program their Homelink with a Sommer (3/4 hp) garage door opener? I've tried several times, using the Homelink instructions and the Sommer instructions (for Homelink) but cannot get it to work.

I'm curious...did you ever get this to work. I have the same Sommer and can't get the C7 homelink to work at all with this version of door opener.

I also used the learn button on the opener mounted in the garage--worked fine but you need to be fast. cutnout aka Charlie

I have a Liftmaster that is about 8 years old and it programmed first time. Held the button on the Visor until the light flashed continuously and at then time pushed the remote while aiming it at the visor area.

This Sommer (directdrive) door opener is driving me nuts. Programming my liftmaster to the homelink was a piece of cake! No matter what I trie for the Sommer it will not work. I've followed the directions on Homelinks site to the tee and nothing.

It appears that you are supposed to perform the following....
1. Reset homelink by pressing the two outer buttons in your car. - Done
2. Take the sommer hand remote and hit the button along with holding one of the homlink buttons in the car. Light should go from slow blinking to fast blinking. This never happens.

It appears that the car cannot absorb the signal from the sommer remote and save it for some reason. Maybe it's the wrong frequency or something....which is 310.

I have an email out to Sommer but not sure they will be able to fix it. Going crazy!!

I got mine to work by using a Liftmaster 365LM and connecting it to my Sommer and programming my C7 to talk to it. Homelink was kind enough to send this out to me for free. Contact them and tell them your issue they have great customer service and will work with you until you have a fix. I had a very very pleasant experience with them.

Sommer sent me the 365lm and it got me no where, matter of fact just using the LM receiver and the remote that came with it I have to be within inches of the receiver to make it operate.
Don't see the Sommer and the Homelink ever working together.
Got a feeling the Sommer rep felt Homelink preferred other openers over them.
