I am an EXTREMELY frustrated, soon to be ex GM customer who has been loyal to the brand for 35 years. I have been stuck at 1100 for many months and genuinely PISSED OFF that even though I am "next in line" for an allocation that my dealer has proven to me that he has in the system, he hasn't received an assignment for a convertible Z51 in months! Coupes? Yes. Non Z51 verts? Yes. But not one bloody Z51 vert in months!

This isn't a question of an allocation. My dealer has the allocations. Who is it at GM that is asleep at the controls and not giving priority to sold orders?

Looking for answers and some sort of satisfaction I've PMd Chevrolet Customer Care on this forum numerous times and have yet to receive a response. I've also emailed [email protected] and not received a peep from them either.

It is clear that my business is not valued by GM. My next letter is going directly to Mary Barra.

go ahead, write her...your problem is with the dealer, not GM....

read more here in the purchasing section and learn how the game is played, yes, it may be wrong, but it is what it is, and will not change for the foreseeable future........

Baloney!! My dealer has the allocations. Week after week he is not getting an assignment suitable for my order.

Read the rest of my post. Is it acceptable that I have not received a response to my posts and email to GM customer service? I am talking about many posts over a few days not hours.

I have tried calling them as well and cannot get anybody that is knowledgeable on the phone. I'm pretty sure I'm speaking to somebody off shore that doesn't know what they are talking about.

Sorry you have not yet gotten your Z-51 order accepted by Chevrolet. There are two steps. First your dealer must have allocation, including remaining Z-51 allocation for specifically for your type of car, e.g., a Z-51 convertible allocation for you. Perhaps your dealer has used up, or never had Z-51 convertible allocations? Hope not.

Second, and we hope this is the case, that your dealer has allocation for your Z-51 convertible, but that as GM prioritizes accepting allocations from their largest allocation dealers first, it may well be that the last few months, GM has been accepting Z-51 convertible allocations from larger dealers, and that soon your dealer's order for your Z-51 convertible gets picked up. That could be as soon as next Tuesday. I know your remember that the last couple of weeks no new orders were accepted by GM's for the StingRay from any of their dealers (regardless of allocation size). Hope everything falls into place for your order real soon.

Have you sent a private message to ChevroletCustomerCare? If not, I would recommend you do so.

And in regard to your comment that you have made "many posts over a few days," may I remind you please, as another member of the forum previously posted and reminded all members of our forum, that our agreement with ChevroletCustomerCare is that each of us limit our public posts requesting status or info to no more frequently than once a week. Thank you.

Elegant, it is always a pleasure to read your posts and I am grateful that you responded to mine. Thanks for talking me back from the edge and calming me down.

I've read this forum thoroughly and believe that I understand the allocation and assignment process as well as anyone (who does not work for GM) can.

This brings me to a question about something you said. You referred to my dealer having "Z51" allocations. I thought that allocations were either coupe or verts. I thought it was up to GM at the time of assignment who determined whether the allocation would be z51 or non z51 based on the constraints. Please elaborate.

Thanks

I did PM chevroletcustometcare and have received no response. I do not abuse this service. I do expect a response to my inquiry.

Thank you, for you are technically correct, i.e., that GM does not officially have four columns of allocations, but just two, e.g. coupes and convertibles. Then, GM decides, based on their priorities (meaning size of comparative dealer allocations), during each weekly consensus process, which dealer's orders get chosen. This then results in a de-facto extra set of considerations/ priorities (does your dealer have enough convertible allocations to get you your Z-51 convertible). I see from your first post that your dealer has some allocations this year, but does he/she have enough convertible allocation, which when compounded with the Z-51 constraint issue, in order to get your order accepted? I hope so, and again that could be in the next few weeks. Please also remember convertibles started down the line 2 1/2 months behind the coupes, so to eliminate their Z-51 coupe backup, GM has prioritized those earlier Z-51 coupe orders submitted first. They are getting more caught up, and the biggest dealers have been lately seeing Z-51 verts with regularity, as have some next "allocation size" dealers. It just may take a little longer for your dealer's order for your Z-51 vert to be picked up.

I understand how frustrating it is to wait. Have my Z06 deposit in since last June 1st, and even though I am with MacMulkin, # 2 on their Z06 list, I will probably not get my car for another 11/12 months. Waiting is horrid (would have used more descriptive language, but we are a "family friendly forum")!

They PM'd me and they are working on a response to all on the forum, clarifying the allocation process. As you can imagine, consistent with any large organization, that will take time, i.e, go through their legal department and other parts of their organization.

"Clarifying the allocation process" is exactly what they should do. And IF it needs a tweak here or there, so be it. But frankly, I don't think the system is particularly broken. The root cause of some of the frustrations posted by folks is a lack of understanding of the process and the rational behind it. SOME dealers are knowingly or unknowingly not setting customer expectations correctly, and (let's be honest!) SOME buyers are not being totally reasonable or realistic.
