I have asked this in another thread, but thought I would create a stand alone thread to monitor this topic. With spring busting out, those of you with cars will begin to pile on mileage and I was curious what sort of wear patterns you have on your tires. In your reply please mention your mileage, and whether you do any track work or not. Based on the few replies on the other thread it looks like the initial trend is for even wear.

After 5000+ miles on RedHot the tread wear is very even to my eye on fronts and backs. No cupping or scrubbing visible. She has not been tracked but certainly driven with great enthusiasm where appropriate out in the desert and through the twisties in the mountains. Even the tiny Michelin Man logo on the edge of the tread is still waving at ya all the way around :D

1,000 miles on mine and tires are fine. No track use. Base model.

Since the Z51 and the base model have different tires, is that a factor that should be considered in in addition to miles and track use? I understand that in addition to dimension, they are compounded differently. If you discover issues, it would be good to know what model C7.

Good suggestion! If you don't have that (base or Z51) info in your signature, please add it when you respond.

My Z51 seems to be wearing the rear tires quite a bit more than the fronts. Does this sound normal, or could it be the way the car likes to ease through the corners at a 45 degree pitch?

You gotta stop playin' with that giggles pedal. That pedal eats rear tires for breakfast.

I have 19300 on my Z51 and I think I might get another 3-4000 on them before I replace them. I drive to work, mostly freeway miles, daily. I'm not taking it to the track yet so I'm considering choosing a different tire. Does anyone have an opinion which tire to look at? It would be nice to get 35-40000 on a set of tires.

Good to see you are really driving it a lot.

3000 miles z51 not much wear at all.

I talked to a Michelin Expert who spoke at the Simeone Museum on Corvette Day. He said I could expect my z51 tires to last approx. 20k miles on average.

Michelin's chief Corvette tire engineer, who made a presentation at the 2013 Bash, said that they are expecting 15,000 miles on Z-51 tires that are keep properly aligned, properly inflated and not used on the track, and the base Corvette's tires, again using the same three conditions, are expected to last 30,000 miles. Of course, we all know the major variable that reinforces or mitigates those mileage estimates are how aggressive one accelerates and brakes.

To everyone with tire wear, are the inner part of your front tires the most worn? If the answer is yes then as one forum user posted they had the negative camber on the front set to 0 which gave them longer tire life however that would be advised on a DD and not for someone that tracks their car. GM set the front tire camber to -7 to improve cornering on the track.
