Human nature dictates some orders will be cancelled. Life happens and things like income fluctuations, divorce, marriage, death, or people just change their minds. Airlines routinely overbook knowing there will be a certain amount of cancellations. What do you think the cancellation rate will be for C7 orders?

Of course those on a C7 waiting list will benefit by moving a step closer to an earlier delivery date and those deep down on a waiting list will benefit the most since there is a greater of number of orders ahead of them with the potential to cancel.

I’m guessing there will be 10% cancellations. So if you are #40 on a waiting list, you may possibly become #36.

I'd put it closer to 25%. Human nature is a tricky thing. Some will cancel due to their own personal issues, finances, employment situations, etc. Others will cancel due to dealers being dishonest & "suddenly" having a market adjustment AFTER the car arrives and is ready to be picked up.

There are definitely some folks who already changed their mind and said "no," as evidenced by folks posting that they were order number "x" and due to others ahead of them canceling, they are now order number __.

And as the original poster stated, there will always be those who have to cancel due to financial, health, change of job/location and similar issues. It will be interesting to see, say six months from now, as owner's reports and in-depth magazines articles come out, how that effects order cancellations, or conversely increases "I just placed my order" frenzy.

My belief is that this January, the day before the NAIAS/Detroit Auto Show, we will see the new 2015 high performance version of the C7, that will trigger cancellations of more than a few of the 2014 orders already placed (but not yet produced), and the push for those folks to instead order the 2015 HP model.

That is an excellent point. The introduction of the Hi Power C7 in January just might displace many C7 orders that have been made.

If you are #30 or higher on a wait list, this would probably put your C7 delivery into 2014. If you switched to a HI-PO C7 you might be #1 on that list. Maybe I'll be one of those switching too?

What was the price difference between a C6 and a Z06?

I dont know about waiting for the Hi perf model as I am sure it will be a significant price difference. You may get a few dropping out for that but I think most will drop out due to change of heart or life issues getting in the way. I am getting antsy waiting for mine. Called my dealer today and he is hoping my order goes in next week.
