You probably have to answer "Yes" or "Okay" or whatever when the phone is paired when it asks you if you want to share your "contacts/data/whatever-the-message-is" with your car.
Just because it is paired does not mean the phone will allow the car to have access to your contacts data unless you explicitly give it permission.
