I thought the C7 weighed less?

The C7 is 80lbs heavier then the C6 coupe mostly due to the beefier frame and additional content. However, the vert isn't much heavier than the coupe, something the older versions can't say.
It's what you do with the weight and how you manage it that matters and by all accounts the C7 rides and handles like a much lighter car.

Customers and the media demanded more of the Corvette, including better seats, better interior, more power, more electronics, greater fuel economy, etc. And we have lots more Federal safety standards in the last fifteen years. Does mean that weight gain is excusable? No, but in this case the C7's weight increase is explainable, as follows:

That is a good list of the weight increases, but just to be accurate over the 1st comment about the frame, it is ~50% stiffer but this all aluminum frame is actually 99 pounds lighter than the steel C6 frame. There are also some other weight savings that help get the ~49% front, 51% rear weight distribution.

You are correct, my comment on the frame was wrong. In my defense I remember hearing that quoted in the same sentence where they said it was the weight loss was absorbed by other additions.....
I assume that chart is in comparison to the C6? It totals 210.9 lbs so if you subtract the 99 lbs of the frame that's a net increase of 111.9 lbs. Pretty close to what I've seen posted.
