When car goes into V4 mode, rpm's go up, and down 200 rpm, car shakes, rattles, bucks. Feels like driving on cobble stones. When put in manual mode, it is fine. Took car to dealer Tuesday. Gave me a loaner, and said they will call me if needed. In and out in half hour! Called them Friday. Car will be ready Monday, with new Torque Converter. Hopefully problem solved without new ones! Car had 4500 miles when it acted up.

newskatercat, it must have been a bad Torque Converter off the shelf and it finally went south. It is good to read the dealership diagnosed the problem and there're getting it squared away ASAP.

How hard did it engage when cold comparted to hot? Was it just slightly or enough to jolt the fillings out of your teeth? Mine is usually slightly harder when cold with a slight delay, perhaps one second, but once every three months the delay is longer and the engagement a bit harder. It's been doing that for 18 months and hasn't gotten any worse.

I've felt a sporadic but mild shudder 3X in 18 months (4500 miles) at highway speeds in V4 mode only, but only for the first 10-15 miles, then it stops. In cooler months I've seen tach oscillation of ±50 rpm on occasion, but 99% of the time is so minor as to be almost unnoticeable.

If these quirks remain unchanged I'll be happy, as otherwise the A8 performs beautifully. I just hope it doesn't start to flake out like the OP's did at 4500 miles. I'm there now!

Take it in now. Don't wait. You shouldn't have any of those symptoms no matter how often they occur. I have 15,400 on my 2016 build date 10/15 and never any of the symptoms mentioned not even once. Mine has been smooth as silk from day one. Not to say they may never happen, but I wouldn't wait.

Mine will jump unless you have your foot holding the brake fairly well so it won't move. I have to take it in for a reprogramming and after reading some of the things I am concerned about losing the cruise control speed light. Maybe I will keep going before doing it as I only have 2100 miles on it since delivery of October 2015.

FYI, I had my PCM reprogrammed on my '15 and have not lost the indicated cruise speed.

Car was ready this morning as assured. I looked it over good, with no apparent defects. Took a drive on the highway, and was very smooth. Time will tell! Dealership experience, was as good as it gets! :pride:

Would you name your dealer, for the benefit of other Florida members?
