Hey Everybody,

I am in lust with these new Corvette's .I am a huge Mopar fan and had built for me a 2007 charger SRT with an Arrington Aluminum 449 a couple years ago. A blast in a straight line. I want to corner,I want to drive a sports car and it has led me here to find out as much as possible about these new elegant little monsters.

There is a dealership on the forum that has the almost EXACT configuration I want (AW,2LT,Adrenaline Red,A8,black wheels,Carbon Splash).Unfortunately ,I won't have my act together enough to pull the trigger till the first of the year or shortly after. Then Im afraid Ill have to go through the ordering process. What a problem to have huh?

Anyway.I have had a great time here lurking and learning from everyones posts and pics. Thanks for everyones effort.Great rides.

Hey motorhed66, I just ordered a Stingray that is a close match to your dream car. I was going to wait until next year too, but the credit union discount saved me enough money to pull the trigger now. This is a great forum with a lot of helpful owners. Hope you can get your dream car soon!

Odds are that there will be plenty of AW / Red 2LT Automatics available on the larger dealer lots come the first of the year so you won't have to go through the ordering process. Spend the time soaking up all the information here but remember, forums tend to amplify problems and gloss over the good so keep that in mind as you pass the time.

If I were you, since your car will be easy for a dealer to sell configured the way you want it, I would ask a large volume dealer to configure one just the way you want it, and plan upfront so they will have it delivered to their stock in early January. If things work out for you, it will be there ready to go. If not, then you have not harmed the dealer as they easily can just sell that configuration from stock to someone else, and you will not have harmed the dealer's other clients since they apparently no longer have long waiting lists since they are now ordering for stock anyway.

I have noticed that Mike at Criswell will do all he can to help people out. I don't know if what I have suggested above is too much hassle or not, but it doesn't hurt to ask. He is a really nice person (you can tell from all the posts he has on here), so, even if it is a no-go, I am sure he will be kind in how he answers you. Maybe he will have other options as well.

Motorhed66, school me on that "North Kackalacky" phrase, I've got a retired Army buddy that sprinkles that in his war stories from time to time, but I have never asked him what that refers to........:D I'm AF and CG, but my sister was born at Bragg.

I found it........

North Cackalacky

A nickname for North Carolina. Mainly used by people (military transplants) who are originally from the West Coast, especially from CA and more specifically Socal;) The word is used in good humor often to make light fun of the red neck ways of the South.

Example: "Just saw a recliner on somebody's porch, it must be their patio furniture...only in North Cackalacky."

Norm, I never heard that phrase. My son is currently stationed at Bragg and has been for the past 4-5 years. He's a company First Sergeant there in the 82nd Airborne. He and I were both born and grew up in California and we both love that place. I fell in love with NC the first time I flew back and visited. Most of the folks back there are much friendlier and hospitable than I found in California. And as far as Red Necks are concerned, don't share this with anyone and believe it or not, there's still quite a few of them in California..... They're just outnumbered out here..... Look outside the cities and major metropolitan areas and you'll find em.....

I too will be ordiering in late spring. I live in Maine so unless I plan to put on snow shoes or studded tires there is no hurry. The point above is one I try to keep in the forefront every time I go down some rat hole thinking "I wonder why that happened and could it happen to me?" Until I get to the place where I believe every single issue on this entire site will be manifested in one car, my new ride! Then I think ....... Yes, I'm willing to take that chance!
