Hello,

I just wanted to check and see what will be the last day that Chevy will accept orders for 2014 models? (I did a forum search but wasn't able to find the date, I know it's been discussed previously)

My car was put into the system (1100 status) on November 19, 2013. If the car doesn't move to 2000 by the last day for 2014 model order acceptance, will my order vanish and will I have to resubmit my order for a 2015? Thank you very much guys for your help.

First to your question:
Quote from Dealer Ken Ficthner:
"Plant start date is 8/11/14 (for 2015)
Dealers will begin consensus and know initial allocations in late June 2014.
Dealers can begin submitting order requests within allocations on June 26, 2014.
Final 2014 Stingrays will be produced on 8/8/14"

However as has been discussed in detail on the forum: if you had an actual GM WorkBench order submitted on November 19, 2013 you should be able to obtain from your dealer a copy of the WorkBench printout with your order number showing and your name. Something does not make sense for you to still be at 1100. Either they never had any allocations OR they decided for whatever reason not to give you one of their allocations. If they had you would not be sitting at 1100. You did not state what you wanted to order, model, options, etc. You should look at one of our forum sponsors who have Stingrays sitting on their lots and/or may still have some viable 2014 allocations at this late stage. Hope you have success in getting what you would like.

This is the very last week to get an order placed for Cyber Gray (thanks "mjw930" for previously noting)! That Cyber Gray order must be submitted into GM's WorkBench computer system no later than 4:00:00 this Saturday afternoon. I just confirmed with our dealership supporting vendor (specifically Tommy Jr. At MacMulkin Chevrolet) that he has huge allocation this week, so if you are already mourning the loss of Cyber Gray and can't live without it, get in touch with Tommy right now. Have a meeting with him and one if his great sales colleagues, Mark, Friday at the Bash, and if you are finding it hard to reach him, contact me via PM, and I will ensure he contacts you!!! Or call the other three Corvette salespeople (Ron, Karl, or Jesse) at MacMulkin directly: (888) 672-6840.

Hey guys, thank you for replying so quickly!

My dealer is a smaller dealer, they mostly deal in trucks so they only had four allocations for 2014 corvettes. Three have been produced since November, and I am number four on the list, hence the next one. I didn't want to have to order out of state and wanted to support a local dealer, plus, I am stuck with the fact that I am grandfathered in with the old price. If I cancel the order and go somewhere else, the car will be 3,000$ more.

The car I ordered is a 1LT Z51 Arctic White with black interior, 7 speed manual, black rims, mag ride, perf. exhaust, and the carbon flash mirrors and spoiler (MSRP $58,600). It has been hard for me to find that combo anywhere else as most dealers only have 2LT's and 3LT's in stock, and I do not want the 2LT or 3LT due to the extra cost and do not need the extras.

Basically, I am just worried that if the order isn't pulled by the end of the current production year, I am afraid will my order be dropped, and the dealer will say "too bad so sad", and I'll be forced to go somewhere else and pay the extra $3,000 (or more for a 2015) after already waiting 6 months. :-/

I have talked to the dealer, the owner of the dealership, and they all seem very upfront. They have shown me the bench orders showing that I am next in line, it's just a matter of when (and if) Chevy will grant the last Z51 allocation.

If your dealer has four allocations for 2014, three of which have been filled, then it is GUARANTEED that your dealer will get a fourth allocation for 2014. The only problem is that allocation may be for a base model instead of a Z51 model.

I would wait it out. Get the car you want. If it doesn't happen then you could buy a '14 off a dealers lot, our get the '15. I was the last allotment for my small dealer, they had three. It is being built this week.

Yes, I agree. It's tough to even think about canceling, they put me in a tight position, including the fact that I have my trade all set up with them as well and in writing. What upsets me primarily is that I was told late January-February, then April-May, then June. I have severe doubts that it will be produced and delivered by June, as it is still sitting at 1100 and it takes a little over a month and a half for a car to move from 1100-6000.

No idea as to their remaining allocations but gave Ross Downing (Hammond, la) the go ahead to place my order without FAY on 4/12 (I ordered the OEM c/f dash from Fitchter in MT and have it after 4 days - will change out) and I got a TPW in about 10 days - Call Ross Downing and ask for Jay Naquin.

Elegant... Can you expand on the Cyber Gray issue. Do you mean my order @ 1100 has to be picked up by GM this week, or is my Cyber Gray 1100 order considered in the system? Thanks.

My dealer, who is a large allocation dealer, said if accepted by GM at 1100 you should ok but obviously your dealer needs to have allocation. This was supposedly directly from the GM district manager who was in the store when I called. Obviously if you go 2000 this week you're locked. I'm told, since GM knows what's in the pipeline, even at 1100, they know how many are booked in CG and what this weeks allocation is. Obviously if you have a CG at 1100 with a dealer that doesn't have allocation it isn't being built anyway. If he was wrong and I don't get pulled this week and lose CG I'll be really pissed.

In order for a Cyber Gray order to have a chance to be picked up, a dealer with this week's allocation must enter that order into GM's system by this Saturday at 4:00 PM; i.e., an order that is otherwise perfect entered at 4:01 PM Saturday, even for a top dealer with tons of allocation will not even be considered.

1100 means nothing at this point, for in order to get a Cyber Gray 2014, it must be status 2000 (meaning acceptance by GM) by next Tuesday. If GM, for example has decided to built (paint quantity, whatever), 1,300 more Cyber Gray StingRays, and they have 1,400 dealers with allocation who submit a Cyber Gray car by the deadline, 100 of those orders will not be accepted.

Well that,s not good. My dealer has two allocations left and has been told one (my Cyber Gray Coupe) will get picked up in the first half of May and their last allocation (Convert) picked up in the second half of May. Color re-choose required.

John,

That contradicts what my dealer told me. He INSISTED my order would be honored but didn't expect it to be picked up (2000 status) until next weeks allocation cycle.

This isn't a small dealer, it's Les Stanford which is #3 in delivered and allocation in 2014 and have a good reputation. It's supposed to be directly from the GM District Manager, here's the email he sent.

Hello Mark,
District manager is in the building as we speak. If the car has a POD number, you will get the Cyber Gray. You are safe, as are the people whose order will go in tomorrow. After that, it is toast.

Mark, I would love to be wrong on this! Les Sanford is a very, very good, honest dealer. Hope I have been misinformed!!!
John,

What you said is what I figured the deal would be. I may call and speak with the Sales Manager tomorrow since he's the one who manages orders and allocation. I just want to be careful and not make it sound like I didn't trust what Dennis told me because I believe he is honestly telling me what he's being told.

It's not uncommon for people "in the know" to misunderstand and only find out after the fact that they were wrong. I don't want to have the SM try and allocate the order next week and find out it's not picked up due to color. It makes him look bad and pisses off the customer (me).

I pinged Tommy to see if he would do a supplier deal but I don't think he's interested as long as he has MSRP buyers lined up.

When I read post #4 from John, it leads me to believe that orders would have to be in GM Workbench by this Saturday, but does not lead me to believe that they must be matched with an allocation this week. My thought when I first read post #4 was that, similar to how the price protection worked, an order for Cyber Gray must be at 1100 by this Saturday, or people are not going to be able to get "color protection" on their Cyber Gray.

Logically, however, if I were GM, I would want to know how much Cyber Gray paint I will need, and I would not want to buy any more than that plus a small fudge factor. Therefore, I would want to put a hard deadline on when orders must be at 3000 with no changes. After that, I would do my last time buy from my Cyber Gray paint supplier, and Cyber Gray orders after that would be out of luck.
