now give it a 250 shot of nitrous and see what happens! Here's the view from the cockpit.
0 - 100 MPH in 9 seconds.
I agree and the information and feedback not very good. I admit I have been reluctant to try this with my manual until I'm sure it works as describedI've read through the launch control and the only thing I can come up with is that with the Z-51 you don't need to be in the competitive driving mode for that system to work. I got to tell you though that I really am not sure about that. Looking at what is written in the "how to" below, using WOT and not knowing for sure what will happen can't be a good thing. Maybe someone will help us here. HELP!
Manual Transmissions
. The clutch is pressed and the
vehicle is in 1 (First) gear.
. The accelerator pedal is rapidly
applied to wide open throttle.
The Launch Control feature will
initially limit engine speed as the
driver rapidly applies the accelerator
pedal to wide open throttle. Allow
the engine rpm to stabilize.
A smooth, quick release of the
clutch, while maintaining the fully
pressed accelerator pedal, will
manage wheel slip.
Launch Control
Available only in Track mode for maximum “off–the–line” acceleration when in Competitive or PTM modes.
Thanks Mark, unfortunately you don't have a car yet to tell me this is exactly how it works, how many members do we have in this forum? Looks like nobody has tried this feature yet otherwise they would post their steps 1 to 5 done.....It's really not that confusing. Launch control is available on all cars with all transmissions and options. The only difference, as noted by the manual, is cars equipped with Magnetic Ride Select have Performance Traction Management instead of Competitive Mode in the track settings. That's the only reason the manual says "except Z51 with Magnetic Ride Select" when referencing Competitive Mode.
I've written technical manuals in a past life and this section is exceedingly poorly written. Page 9-41 sums it up much better.

No, I don't and when I do it will be a manual anyway. The manual is pretty clear, put it in Track mode, select a performance traction mode, hold the brake, floor the throttle, lift off the brake and hold on. If, when you press the accelerator the car tries to move and seems to strain then it's not engaged so let off the throttle. Thanks Mark, unfortunately you don't have a car yet to tell me this is exactly how it works, how many members do we have in this forum? I do get the procedure on the manual, it is a lot clearer in the manual and there are plenty of youtube demonstrations but none for auto that are clear, I must be the only member with an automaticNo, I don't and when I do it will be a manual anyway. Do you believe, for some reason, that a car with Magnetic Ride doesn't have launch control?
Hey, I understand not wanting to experiment with your own car, I'm not afflicted with that problem, I'll try anything once

I'll be getting my Vette next week. I'm sure it won't be long before I try the launch control because I'll have over 2300 miles on her by the time I get home so she should be broke in. I will have auto Z51. Just the idea of putting on the brakes and bringing that beast up to full throttle is Gnarly.I will just ask the instructor at the Ron Fellows track when I go before next march, I will then share my results for newbies with auto trans![]()
