So I went for my first oil change today the dealer is trying to not give me mobile one. Is there a service bulletin out requiring the change to mobile one? If so can somebody post it.

What kind of oil are they offering?

Are they asking you for cash to upgrade to Mobil 1?

I'm just asking to prepare for that time in the future.

Thanks

Based on several posts it appears that getting Mobil 1 for free is dealers choice. I was first charged $82 and when I called back to the dealership they decided to refund me the money. Others have posted paying a bit over $100 for Mobil 1 while other have gotten for free no issues.

Rock, my suggestion would be to call ahead. If they want to charge try another dealership.

supposedly mobil 1 is now to be used on the free oil changes that the dealer gives, but I don't think all dealers have got the message. As said above, call around. By now, calling Chev cust service may help too....

There has been nothing officially published from GM regarding Mobil 1 as a factory fill, just an announcement of their renewed association and a flier added to new car deliveries. You may be able to sweet talk your local dealer to use Mobil 1 without an up charge but as of now it is not an official GM upgrade. Good luck with it.

BTW, I purchased 10 quarts of Extended Use Mobil 1 from Autozone for $78 so an $80+ up charge is a bit rich.

RUMFITS, my dealer Criswell Chevrolet in MD that I bought from does Mobil1 no extra charge. Call Paramus Chevrolet and talk to SERVICE MANAGER. Tell him you are buds with me and are looking to find a service dept to have a long term relationship with, but that is contingent on getting the Mobil1 with your free 4 oil changes. He put the warranty service ticket in on my change, and as long as he was paid by GM to do the work, should not be an issue. If he didn't get paid the difference, he might not do it.

Also, it might be contingent on having a Z51, which mine was.

I went back-and-forth with the service manager about the cost of the regular dextose and the mobile one and asked what is it two dollars or three dollars a quart more. I said I will pay the difference if it's that much of a problem and you can't handle the cost. he told me that it wasn't the price of the cost it was because the engine and that's not what it called for I told him it was a better oil and that's what I wanted in it. I would pay the difference if they were too cheap to pay it and they decided to waive the fee for the mobile one. Also repaired the wheel well rocker panel issue of both of them bowing slightly. Persistence this Marine never gives up. Haha you should see the arguments in my house.

It's really to bad some of us have to go through this. With all the great high end stuff Chevy is doing, it just doesn't make sense to have to argue with a dealer about the oil.

It is a business they are trying to make money too. It was a light 20/30 min conversation. Aka (Paul's bitch session as my wife calls em.)

What's interesting is when I went and paid to have Mobil 1 put in because they wouldn't, I went on their showroom and looked at a Z28. The oil cap said Mobil 1 on it. But then again that's an LS7.

I agree with you RUMFITS that's it's a business and I'm a fan of capitalism. With that said, I don't believe in gouging. Heck, after I picked up my car and got home I realized they even charged me labor after I paid for the Mobil 1.

don't forget you can get 6 qts mobil 1 from COSTCO several times a year for $25 = 24qts for $100...easy to change your own if you have access to lift or a creeper in your garage...and the warranty will still be good
