Thank you MotorTrend, for we are enjoying your "measuring, sharing and speculating" on this morning's GM C7 Z06 teaser picture and your interesting ideas and "findings." Here's one of MotorTrend's previous Z06 mule pictures.

First, regarding the front tires from GM's teaser photo (shown almost everywhere in the media today), MotorTrend said they were able to determine that they are 285/30/19's. This is a very large front tire, equal to what was on the ZR1, yet one size wider than the C6 Z06.

According to MotorTrend, "The teaser (picture) doesn't reveal a ton about the new Corvette Z06, though it does look to have carbon fiber rocker panels, and bulged fenders. One thing the teaser does show is the 2015 Z06's tires: it's wearing ultra-sticky Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup tires."

Here comes another interesting comment regarding their thoughts on the Z06's motor, as follows:

"As for what's powering the new Corvette, we wouldn't be surprised to see the latest evolution of the previous Z06's LS7 naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V-8 under the hood, perhaps with direct injection. Other possibilities include a higher-power version of the base Stingray's LT1 V-8, or maybe even a supercharged version, given GM's penchant for supercharged V-8s."

Notice that there is no mention a twin-turbo option. One wonders if MotorTrend's above listing of their three motor options, is also a "predictive or a probability ranking" of what they expect to power the C7 Z06?

Given the limited information GM teaser picture showed, MotorTrend has provided some good ideas for our consideration.

Lastly, MotorTrend is predicting we will see more GM teaser pictures between now and the Detroit Auto Show (NAIAS) -- with its "Press Preview" just 40 days from now.

Today's MT headline: "2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 Spied with 650-hp Supercharged V-8." It shows the picture splashed here at StingRay Forums and elsewhere in the last 24 hours:

Interestingly, though the headline says it will have 650 HP, they later say it supposedly has between 600 and 650 HP. Either way, if correct, the Z06 will be blindingly fast!

MT, like most, say the motor will be called a "LT4."
