I took foxy to have her software update, sat near the desk of the ladies at the front of the service department chatting with them. I did not purchase locally, so I went to the local dealership (30 minute drive) which had sold the most C7's and had a certified Stingray tech. Was chatty with the ladies to discover how many sold, allocations, etc.
While I was waiting, a salesperson came in and said a customer who had just purchased a C7 vert two weeks earlier was bringing it back as it had cracks on back panels. I told them I had not heard of any problems like this and when he arrived, I asked could I see. So I walked out...the gentleman driving was 80 something perhaps late 80's. The "cracks" were the film from the factory next to the wheel wells. They tried to explain this was from the factory and he seemed to be visibly upset. So I spoke with him, I explained it was a protective film and I have it on my C7, which was being worked on in the back. I explained to him about Xpel and told him of my installation before I left the museum. He wanted to see, so they asked would I walk with him and show him my C7, sure. Was a little longer walk than I expected, so he and I talked as we walked. DId I have a Z51, yes....how did you get a Z51, ordered it from out of state dealer and picked up at the museum...coupe? Yes...he said well I understand there is NO Z51 verts.....

What! No, that is not true and I explained to him about allocation, and that perhaps they did not have allocation for a Z51 vert but there certainly were Z51 verts....by this time we are to my C7 and I show him the protective film and the Xpel on my C7 and he was happy...even asking where could he have it installed...I told him of a local...

I suppose I am not surprised but I cannot believe they flat out lied to him about Z51 verts....

Foxy is running faster and is louder, I am happy I had the update...will I service there, yes as the next nearest Dealership who has a trained tech is an hour the opposite direction...will I ever purchase from them...I doubt it.

Cool. Too bad for the older gent getting misled.

What's the last 5 of your VIN? I recall ours being pretty close (09789 for me).
How long did the update take? Sounds like I need to get none done soon.

Arrived at 12:00 left at 3:30...but I think they did not start on it until 1ish...as the Stingray tech was out to lunch when I arrived...In their defense I was 30 minutes early as I finished up my errands and headed that way not sure of what traffic would be like on the Bayway.

If my car did not belch and jump at 70 to 80 when kicking it in I probably would not have known I needed an update...that and I am visiting Vengeance Racing end of the month and I wanted everything updated from GM before I went.

Vengeance racing? and what do we have in store for "Foxy"?

By the way I really liked your story about helping out the older gentleman at the dealership, it sounds like you really made his day! Now that is Good Karma!

Foxy is getting the VR500 package which is warranty compliant...hubby (my voice of reason) put his foot down on anything else...sigh...and I want to trade up to a Z06 in 2 to 3 years so I have a mod budget, sigh. But I defer to him as he keeps me level headed when it comes to mods and I keep him level headed when it comes to the purchase of more guns...so it works.

Oh it was a pleasure talking with the older gentleman...this was his 10th corvette, starting back with a C1...so he made my day too!

The invoice from the dealer says 13417...all I know is she does not belch and jump from 0 to 80 around the 70 mph mark anymore and the exhaust is a little louder...unless it is a typo on the invoice it is the one I received

I show updates as well, but as I'm happy with the car in all respects, I'll wait until I need warranty work.
I went to the tis2web site and entered my wife's VIN, and it was recognized. However, after clicking around, I can't tell if what is eventually listed is what she already has, or what she needs. Can anyone shed some light on what is displayed in tis2web when you are already up-to-date, and what is displayed when you need updates? Thanks!
