Picked up yesterday at Hendricks in Cary(Raleigh), NC and drove home to Hilton Head, SC
Cyber Gray, 2lt, Jet Black Coupe, CC3 Glass Top, FAY Carbon Fiber Interior, UY4 Navi, NPP Exaust
Originally ordered the Kalahari interior but, after seeing 12 pictures of this color and what appeared to be 12 different shades of Kalahari, I took the safe route and changed to black. Happy I did because I wasn't real fond of the two tone interior. This flows very nicely into the Cyber exterior. By the way, the stitching is gray. White would have been too much of a contrast.
OK... First...checked the car inside and out with a magnifying glass. Perfect. I don't think I've ever had a new car delivered in this condition. The Cyber Gray is a very, very rich looking color.
2nd...the ride. Biggest surprise. Smooth as can be on the highway and around town. Very impressed.
3rd...Glass top on...90* bright overhead sun. With air on cabin was very comfortable although you need sun glasses and a visor when the sun is beating straight down.
4th...Glass top on...varying hwy speeds on I 95...NO WIND NOISE...WOW!!!
5th...Glass top off...sun directly overhead...BOTH the head up display and the info screen were bright and clear.
6th...Infotainment system...took me all of 10 seconds to pair the iphone 4s. Connected the ipod to the usb port. I realize the sound is a personal thing but I thought it was great...with and without the top on. I will say it is going to take a little time to learn the sysyem.
7th...2nd Biggest surprise...MPG...again varying highway speeds. Did a 50 mile check in ECO in 7th gear...same in Touring mode. ECO 33.3 MPH. Touring 33.7 MPH
8th...Manual Trans...Haven't had one in a while but very easy to pick up. The only thing I have to get used to is going from 5th to 6th the shifter seems to want to take me back to 4th...maybe to remind me reverse is over there.
9th...back to the seats...very comfortable
On the lighter side:
I was about 50 yards out of the dealer's lot, stopped for a light, 2 cars came by blasting the horn with the thumbs up.
Actually saw about 40 people on the hwy auditioning for the next Exorcist movie. As they passed me their heads would twist farther and farther around to get a good look at the front. One guy in a suv jumped from the front seat to the back to take some pictures. Another guy comes up beside me doing about 90, hits the brakes and gives me a 5 second thumbs up, then he's off to the races again.
Couple of minor suggestions:
I need to put the seat back to make entry and exit a little easier. You can push a button on the door to move the seat back and use the mem button to return BUT you have to keep you finger on the button the whole time. Would have been nice to have a "one push" system or have the seat move automatically when the engine is started and stopped.
The cup holders aren't going to hold any oversize cup (how's that for being picky????)
All the above is written WITHOUT HAVING READ THE MANUAL. Maybe I'll find some things and be surprised.
I've seen this written before but I'll repeat it...as good as this car looks in pictures it looks better in person. It's worth the wait. On the way to the airport yesterday, to fly to Raleigh, my wife asked me "what's with you and this corvette" When I pulled in the driveway last night she was sitting on the front porch. Her first words were "Oh My God" I love this. No wonder you wanted one. Enough said.
